What do you think? I know its basically stock but I've done a few things to it. Heck, I've only had it for a week!

Doesn't look bad at all. I don't really like the US Army jewel, but that's nothing.

Doesn't look bad, but I hate how small the handguard looks.

I agree, the handgaurd is disproportional...although it looks a lot better in this photo than in the ones online. My first reaction was that the marker was really ugly...but it doesnt look that bad

Yeah, you're right.  It does look much better here.  I don't think I'll ever get over that handguard though.

The Alpha Black is really close is all aspects of a real steel M4 except the barrel length. Plus it is pretty light. I use this as a back up marker when I'm not shooting my X7. Shoots good for just being stock and only having less than $200 in it all together.

Wait - did you put a Cyclone on there?  If so, how - 98 Cyclone kit?

It really is a fun little marker. I've got to change the barrel though. A longer one enhances the overall look of the front half of the marker.

Yep it's a 98 Cyclone Feeder. Very easy to modify. 15 minutes with a Dremel tool.

*Sigh* Why oh why can Tippmann not figure out a way to put the drive spring IN the stock tube (similar to the real AR's buffer spring positioning) ....especially on this marker, which  (could be terribly wrong, never gotten a chance to handle one yet) seems to not have the 'no stock' options you have with the 98 and the A5? That would once and for all eliminate the a) awkward space between the trigger guard and magazine, or b) in the case of the alpha black or any a5/98 with the air through mag, eliminate the awkward space in front of the mag between the handguards...

Rant over....good looking marker for what it is meant for. Agreed however..that army flash would HAVE to go!! LOL

Edit: Forgot to mention..Nice work on the cyclone mod. Looks great and adds some 'umph' to this marker.

Red added for emphasis.

The basic version comes "no stock."

Edited Note:  I like your idea.  Since it's mil-sim anyway they should have just made the stock mandatory and stuck some of the operating system in it.  They could have had a more realistic looking marker.

That's really not a BAD idea at all. With the carry handle being integrated, it sort of dictates that the stock and fore grip should be added as well. If that's the case, then an integrated stock with the operating system inside would have been more realistic, but would have probably raised the initial MSRP of the marker. I think the whole point of this one was to provide a cheap entry level Milsim marker that you can use, and customize when you've got the dime.

Orderd my Alpha Black Tactical yesterday and hoping it arrives soon......your
gun looks great. Did you have to drill holes to mount the Picatinny rail on
the carrying handle? And would it be possible to mount a Picatinny rail on
the bottom of the shroud to add a q-loader or other accesories? Thanks.

Posted By: JagdAlex
Date Posted: 09 March 2008 at 3:25pm

Yeah that would be breat to know I am wondering also myself about the picatinny mount. I want to add a vertical grip/bipod and maybe a flashlight or laser.

Posted By: Evil Elvis
Date Posted: 09 March 2008 at 5:02pm
yeah you'll have to drill a hole for the Picatinny carry handle rail.

You can always change the Foregrip to any of the M-4 Quad Picatinny rails avaliable on many Online retailers, add a longer barrel and front sight post and you have youself a Tactical M-4

I finally got my Alpha Black, and I love it! I am thinking about putting a
cyclone feed on it, but I'm not sure. Do you know if there will be any
firepower upgrades such as an e-grip or RT coming out for it? The grip on
the gun isn't removable, and it didn't look like you could install a 98 e-grip
in it. I can't justify paying for a cyclone if I'm going to to be shooting slowly.

Date Posted: 10 March 2008 at 12:05am

I know you can order it with the egrip but it is preorder right now.  I am sure they will have a way to install it later though.

I really hope so. I would hate for them to release a new Alpha Bllack model
down the road and the e-grip be only compatible with it, not the older one.

That would be a horrible idea on the marketing end so i am sure that will not be the case.

I got the Alpha Black Tactical the other day, and it is a great little marker.  It's amazing how well a stock barrel will shoot.  I cracked it open to oil it, and it looks like there are cutouts in the handle that would allow you to install an e trigger.

The alpha is like the 98, you have to take the whole gun apart to get to the grip.

YES the alpha can use a e-grip, it says on there site, but it does not have the spot for a R/T tho, you might have to mod your own if you want that option, but since R/T isent liked on some paintball feilds, thats probly the reason why they dident put a cutout spot in the alpha?.

I don't understand why they didn't make the the Alpha with a removable
grip so and e grip similar to the a5 or x7s could be installed.

I'm thinking about purchasing the base Alpha but with E-grip. I have the butt stock, M4 shroud and 14inch barrel from my 98C that should fit in this right? Also, does anyone experience the problem of the butt stock rotating on the gun? I've tighten it as much as I can on my 98C and it still rotates, any solutions? Also, is there any detailed plans for adding a cyclone to this gun?

Thanks

Get a thick rubber band (1/4" width) and cut about a 1/2" long piece off of it.  Trim it to fit between the ridges on the part of the stock that attaches it to the marker.  Install the stock with the rubber band fragment in this location.  You may have to experiment with longer or shorter pieces depending upon your marker.  It will make the marker more difficult to put together.  The rubber piece will not only make for a tighter fit, but the rubber itself helps resist rotation.

I'm curious as well what needed to be dremmeled to fit the cyclone feed.  I figured with almost identical design to the 98 that it'd be pretty much plug and play.

I put the Q-loader on mine and got the 16 tactical barrel with ris handgaurd for the 98 on it. Looks sweet and is crazy accurate.

only thing i dont like is how my hangaurd paint doesnt match the marker itself.....ganna have to paint it.....prolly do the digi cammo

the 98 has a rounded spot where the feedneck locks in and the alpha has more of a pointed one.....idk why they made it like that but u just got the trim the rounded part of the 98 cyclone into a triangle more or less.
