Prince Henry of Wales.

Because you can't ask a man to go Fight a War your not willing to go fight yourself. Did some check up on the Province he's at and it's as much as a craphole as it get's. Loaded with Taliban Figthers and other radical fundamental nut jobs.

Good for Britain. Good for him

That picture was taken about 30 second before he was shot in the head by a sniper for looking like an idiot.

While I suspect they will find a way to ensure that no baddies get anywhere his precious little booty, you can't fault his intentions - he worked pretty hard to get stationed ("but daaaaaaaaaad!").

Label well earned.

Yes, but being British he got up, dusted off a bit and apologized for getting blood all over things, shuffled about a bit awkwardly and asked if he should pose again.

At least he has the balls to serve his country, unlike some leaders who try to send us to war.

Kind of yes, kind of no.

Two things that make this kid special:

1.  The Pat Tillman argument.  People that have "made it" can find it easier to essentially retire from life.  Prince Harry could, if he chose, spend his life in complete uselessness, an option not available to most people.  Most people have to do SOMETHING useful or starve, and the military is one such useful thing.

2.  Specific duty.  As EE hinted at, this is not just another citizen performing a vague general duty to his country.  This is a prince.  By fate he has been thrust into a position where his job is to be a leader for the nation.  And if he is to take that job seriously, certain specific actions are required.  For most people there are a variety of ways to meet your civic.  For this guy, it pretty much had to be this.  Anything else would be less.  And to identify the exact thing that has to be done, and take great steps to accomplish that thing, is pretty badass.  He didn't just "sign up" - he knew what was required and made it happen.

There is an irony to all of this.

The same media that everyone is blaming for him having to come home, they brought you the story to begin with so that everyone was oohing and aahing about how cool it is that a prince is in a warzone (and it is cool).

Well he's well off and they told him he couldn't go to IRAQ because it was to dangerous but he wanted to serve his military so he eventually gets his wish and serving in Afghanistan. I'll give the boy this hes got balls. It's respectable to serve on the front instead of pushing flags around on a map.
