I'm not new to the sport, but I would like to know, what is the cheapest way to make a good tippmann marker.

I'm either wanting to build one from nothing, or buy one and upgrade it for a friend.

Lmk that would be great.

Well, technically, you can build any marker, but it's not always economical. If you look around on various paintball forums, you may be able to find enough stock parts to build up a Tippy, but considering you can buy a used one for ~$60, I'd just buy a used one and upgrade it.

I'd go find a cheap used 98c on pbnation.com first.  You can get them dirt cheap.  If you wait long enough, you can get a steal or two.  I got a 98c w/ 2 14" Teardrop Barrels and a Steel 14oz CO2 tank for $40 shipped once.  Anyway, for upgrades, I'd say find a Lapco Bigshot used if you can.  They're a good barrel.  Otherwise, if you can find a J+J Ceramic, it'd be cheaper and comparable.  So, in any case with a 98c, first upgrade the barrel.  Stay around the 12" - 14" range.  Good luck and welcome to the sport, as well as the forum.

Like DeTrev and Smitty both said, look into a used 98c. After you get the gun, the opportunities are endless. There are plenty of upgrades available.

All of the markers in that post were built for under $150.
