You need to make sure that the bulk-tank that you get to do fills with has a "dip tube" or "siphon tube" connected to the valve. Otherwise you will have to turn the bulk-tank upside-down to get the liquid CO2 to flow through the valve and into the bottle through the fill-station. Also, make sure you fully purge your CO2 tanks that need to be filled immediately before filling. This chills down the tanks and keeps the incoming liquid CO2 from expanding and stopping the fill process. Also, when you've purged the tank to be fill, place it on an electric fish-scale ($10 at walmart) and hit the "tare" button to zero the scale with the bottle on it. Use that scale to determine how much CO2 is in the tank while filling. Make sure to fill slowly so you don't over-fill. This will save you the pain of having to replace burst-disks, or having under-filled tanks.

Finally, follow all directions that come with the fill station and all USDOT guidelines for CO2 when operating the fill station.

I do.  Tallen pretty much seems to have explained everything.  Just be careful, and remember that if you have a 20oz tank, it's safest to fill it with 19oz of CO2.  It's not that big of a difference, and it's safer.  You can even go a little lower to be even safer.  Good luck and be safe.

By the way I'm from upper Iowa.

Ya I fill my own these 2 guys pretty much covered it. Another good idea is to fill your tank up a few ounces then bleed that off to cool the tank then they will fill better/faster.

I used this site for instruction when filling mine:

This is handy too:
