Subject: I have a few Alpha Black questions...

I have not been able to find one at my local store, so I was hoping you guys could help me out. So for those of you who know....How close does the Alpha Black resemble the M4. Are they close in feel and size?      Would I be able to switch barrels and keep the handguards on the Alpha Black.
Thanks in advance

Not real close in size and feel.

If it weren't for the fact that I'm lazy and my digicam batts are dead... I'd do a side-by-side with my AR.

Most obvious difference will be weight. The Alpha Black is light. Lots of plastic. Handguard diameter is small. Sights are completely different. Yada yada.
But it is a nice gun. I have the "Tactical" model with the handguards and stock... if I were to buy it new, I'd pay the extra couple bucks (and it really is a very slight increase) for the Electronic model.

Handguards and front sight post remain in place while you unscrew the barrel that comes with the gun. The stock barrel actually isn't all that bad... but should you have some spare 98 barrels that you prefer, it's an easy swap out. Looks good with a standard length Lapco.

Very happy with mine. Only way I'd be happier... is with the Elec model.

It isn't too close.

But you can't even make a decent m4 replica for twice the price of the alpha black.

Seconded on getting the electronic version.

Shorty: They didn't even give you guys the electric versions? What model did you get when the triumph came out?

Well the thing is that, the E-grip version of the Alpha comes only in June. BUT when in June?

There is alot of preorder right now, will they have enough stock for everybody?

They will also provide the E-grip sold seperatly and a cyclone made for the Alpha.

Personally I already ordered mine the regular semi-auto version. And if I want to go for the E-grip, I will simply buy it this summer. I just don't feel like waiting maybe 3 months for that. They said June, but when in june? And before the release date and the street date and the shipping date from stores to customer, think more July than June.

Just buy it seperatly, there is already a cut out for the E-grip on the current Alpĥa.

Anyway there will be less option than the A5 or X7 E-grip, it will be cheaper also. So bottom line is: it's really not a big deal at all, just get it seperatly or wait 3 month, your choice.

Also they SAY its going to be released in June.  As I recall the X7's egrip release was pushed back quite a few times.  Go for it now so you can get used to the way it shoots and aiming with it  then when the egrip is released you will be able to use it even better.

We didn't.    No Triumphs.

Ahhh... I wasn't aware of the delay.    I guess that's why we got standards . I had also heard that the electronics were not to be made available seperately, and at the time it didn't make sense to me... glad to hear that they will be offered. I'll have to save up and snag a kit... and one for my X-7 as well.

CarbineKid:
Went ahead and took the picture, for size comparisons.
Granted, my 16" AR is not an M4gery... mid-length handguards vs M4 handguards, but otherwise dimensions should be fairly close to M4.

WHY IS YOUR WEAPON NOT ON SAFE MAGGOT!

Expect to get Trashed at Johns. I'll bring a DI Cover just for that. Enjoy your time untill then Hippy. BTW when did you spring for some MAGPUL mags and a EOTec?

Rifle won't go safe unless I charge it?
Is that not normal? That's how it is with all three of my ARs.
I never charge the rifle until I'm actually within my shooting bay ready to send copper-n-lead downrange.

I've had the Magpul mags for a while now. I take advantage of my C&R discounts. Sprung for half a dozen black and half a dozen FDE. With window and without. All of my aluminum and steel mags have Magpul followers as well.   Been extremely happy with all of them.

EOTech is a clone.    Got it for [poops] and giggles. I'd love to get the real deal, but not in the budget as of yet. For my purposes, the clone does the job. I don't think it'd stand up to any "real" usage, but trips to NRAHQ range it can handle. Holds zero. Perfect co-witness with my fixed iron sights.
Doesn't improve my shooting abilities whatsoever.

Then again, I don't think anything can.

Thanks for the pics. Nice RRA. I wanted once but picked up a Stag instead(better deal for me)
Sizewise its closer then I thought it might be. Now I need to figure out if I need another paintgun. One last question.   Can you use the sights and aim the Alpha Black with a mask on? I am curious to see if the Ar style sights allow you the room to do so.

They're not AR style peep sights really. They're akin to the old 98 sights, just housed within the carry handle and front post... so your run-o-the-mill patridge post/notch.

Not sure about aiming with the mask, as I typically aim by 'feel' and not looking down the barrel with a paintball gun. I'll check when I get home from work.

With a small metal washer and a bit of jb weld you might be able to turn the rear sight into a peep sight.

Turn it into a peep sight? Are you serious? The sights on the Alpha dont
work anyway. Adding a peep sight wouldn't do anything.

That's not a horrible idea, at least in terms of aesthetics.

Just as a friendly pointer:

Generally after a thread has been uncommented on for (as in this case) 5 months, you can, and should, just leave it.
