The United States Space Marines have been on a two-year deep space mission to the far side of the sun. When they return to earth they find everything similar, but not exactly the same.

They soon discover that a solar flare has caused a rift in the space-time continuum, taking them to a different Earth in a parallel universe.

This planet is embroiled in a war with an alien race that utilizes salt water as an energy source. The aliens have enslaved much of the human race there, using them as manpower to harvest that planet's oceans.

Before the Space Marines can return to their Earth, they must first aid this planet's fight for its very existence.
