When I first joined this forum back in '02, my marker, just as everyone else's is when first starting out, was stock with the exception of a 14" J&J Ceramic barrel. As far as I was concerned, it was "The BOMB!", lol.
But of course over time we get an upgrade here and there. I fought many a battle with this rig and it served me and my team well. I'll miss the ole' gal.

Solid Rubber Foregrip(I forget what company)
System-X .45 Sticky Grips
JCS Combat Folding Stock
Lapco Raised Sight Rail
14" J&J Ceramic Barrel
Ricochet 2K Hopper
BSA Red-Dot Scope
Double Trigger
For my return to the field however, I decided to just pretty much go balls to the walls with my marker. I've missed much in the last 3 years and when I came across all of the new upgrades/technology available for my 98, I thought I'd died and gone to paintball heaven! So without further ado, my version of a Tippmann AK-47.
BossMan MilSim MAG-47 Clip Kit
Raised Sight Rail w/side-mount
Tapco M-249 Saw Stock
System-X Sticky Gripz
BSA Red-Dot Scope
Double Trigger
Cyclone Feed
APEX BT-47
R-Trigger

Heyas everyone, I made a change out to the X7 hopper for the lower profile and a more sleek look for my AK. It does stick out a little more than I'd expected, but whatever. I also came up with an idea for a cocking handle utilizing an AK-47 round(7.62) and I can't say I'm disappointed by the way it looks. And just so you know, the thing's inert so there's no danger of any kind. I'm sure I'll be approached in the upcoming scenario I'm going to this Sunday. I test fired in the back yard to see how well the handle would hold up and it seemed ok. It even stayed level as it cycled, didn't look goofy at all like it were tumbling. If the bullet wasn't in it, just the jacket, you'd think it were ejecting the spent casing; looks very cool. One question before I go, has anyone played with the RPS Big Ball's from Wal-Mart? I had two break in my barrel. Do they suck or did I just get a crappy batch? Enjoy the pics.

I'd personally lose the double trigger. I hate it when people use double triggers on mil-sim markers. Otherwise they look good.

Hehe yep, it took me a couple of days to get used to it myself, but every element of this gun serves a purpose and creates the "same, but different" look I was after. There's a lot of players with an "AK", but I wanted to make sure that when put side by side with another of it's ilk, mine would stand out as good as money could buy by way of looks and functionality. There's nothing here that's purely for looks. Sure it's pretty, pretty #&*%@ dangerous!

Well, I tried out my upgraded gun in the field and for the most part it worked out real well, except for the SAW stock. I $*@% HATED IT! All I could think about was, "Why did I sell my JCS?!". Anyways, I bought a fixed wire stock, really nice, new grips since I went back to a single trigger, and a star-fire bolt. I figured, what the hell, might as well see for myself. This should be the final look, but I am considering another rail to raise my sight and to fill in the gap.
My 1st YouTube video. Not the best, but it'll get better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uyx3b2xGDdo - Enjoy!

Here's my finished(I think) 98 Custom. On a whim I did add the foregrip yesterday as I've been thinking of one of those for some time. I think it looks real good and it fires killer. I posted a vid on YouTube of it and am in the process of uploading a vid giving a closer look at my marker. Should be up soon, but for now enjoy the pics!

Alright! So I got my 'waffle' mag today and installed it with one of the TA Side tac rails I had on hand. I'll be adding another later on. Man, the new mag's changed the look of my marker pretty good and I likey!
I did have to shave some plastic off with my dremel, but not much. Drilled the appropriate 1/8" holes and voila'!
Here you can see the little Side tac which I think's a nice addition. I couldn't fasten it down with screws though and had to opt for Super Glue. I then cut the heads off of the hex screws and glued them down with it too. I held the entire gun up by the one rail and it's on there! Looking at the old style mag now, it just doesn't look so good anymore does it?
Questions and/or comments are most welcome!

Ever since I watched some of your videos, I'm reading all the posts imagining your voice saying it. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience.
The waffle mag looks pretty sick. You were definitely right in saying everyone has the standard AK style you had before, so this really helps set your gun apart even more.

Yours really is one of the most unique markers I've ever seen. I like it, a lot. It's got that 'personalized' look to it rather than the cookie cutter milsim dress.

With my recent desire to take on the role as a medium to heavy gunner, aside from just light, I see fit to create a simple modding option for my 98 to make it look more like a machinegun when I take on that role, by simply adding an AK drum mag. I got the idea from looking at some AK pics with this mag on it.
then I went and scored this on ebaY:

Now this is an airsoft mag, but I got lucky and this is nonfunctional which reduces it's price significantly. A functional model is around $100; I scored this for $27 total. Unlike many of the same mags however, again I got lucky and scored this metal one, so in keeping with the MilSim aspect of our sport, this works out very nicely. This is only the "shell" and from what the seller said, there's no internals at all, but whatever, I'll be ripping out whatever's left anyways to reduce it's weight.
I also got in touch with BossMan and asked him about purchasing only his mag wells and it's a "GO"! $20 for the 98 mag well and $8 for the A5 well if anyone's interested. Just e-mail or PM the man.
I'll now also consider getting a bi-pod for when I do throw this beast on my gun.

Yeah, it definately has a higher profile than the real thing, but even so, I think it looks pretty good. The idea was to also get a bipod, but after looking at the pic on the left again,

I don't think I really need it. As far as getting a 16" barrel, I don't think so. The APEX is all I need.
