Make sure you stipulate that you will be boning his daughter.

Has he already said no and you're trying to change his mind or are you anticipating a dispute?

This is one of those things where he's either understanding or he's not. Having your family along should be a big plus in his book.

Edit: You might try leaving a relative as collateral.

Tell him you'll be fighting for his ass in Iraq. The least he can do is let his daughter hang out with you and your family for a bit in Florida.

Right, but a family vacation isn't the only way to spend time with someone.

You might as well just spend as much time with her as you can.  Forget the vacation, spend time in  your town together.  Your girlfriend isn't the only person you're leaving, you should have friends in town too.

Besides, most girls hate the military lifestyle, and having to wonder constantly about the fate of their boyfriend.
Hate to break it to you, but it's the truth.

good thing i am a reservist haha.

but, he already said no. and well what he doesnt know, nor was he going to be told was that my dad was taking me, and my older brother who is 29 is coming along. we were gona go to our place in west palm beach, older brother and girlfriend were gona drive us to orlando, dad was gona put us in two hotel rooms, he wants to golf in west palm, and the four of us were gona go to disney for two nights, back to west palm, go to beach, then go back home, then kris gets activated two days after he gets back home.
kris isnt dating said girl because he knows its stupid to start dating when activation is right around the corner so we were going as "friends". but her dad still said no which baffles me.
besides, disney is the greatest place in earth, i love disney world. and she does to sooo it was gona be an awesome trip.

West Palm Beach?! No more than 1/2 from my house to any border of the region.

Let the harassment begin.

As for the female situation, I agree with oldpbnoob. While I have no offspring, it would probably be best to hang out with her at your home town. Bringing non-relatives on family vacations gets awkward.

Stage 5, at least...

For every member of my family, it was age 18 and the rest of lifes choices were up to us. I suppose my parents saw it as an oportunity to grade themselves on their work of raising us children. You know, see how well they did by how well we do. Pretty soon she'll be 21 and can do everything accept rent a car, yet she can't make a vacation decision without the say-so of the parents still? I see that as twisted, though I am not a father. To those that are fathers and disagree with me, all I have to say is you have to let them go sometime and the longer you hang on after they turn 18 the more they are likely to fail on their own. Just look at every girl I went to high school with who just sat in the same room she lost her virginity in waiting to get out of the house through marriage.

well considering i dont want a relationship, and nor does she, me, i leave one month from today, her, she is studying abroad next year in italy. sooo it works out that way. and its not exactly a family vacation, half my family is going, her and i would be alone most of the time if we were still going. but oh well not happening now.

instead. we are going on an odyssey cruise in boston 4 days before i leave. downside of that is, she cant drink because she only just turned 20 last month. there has got to be a way to get her booze on that boat. haha

How to get alcohol on a cruise ship:

  • Get a mouthwash that is the color brown.
  • Carefully remove the seal of the mouthwash without breaking it. (slide it off)
  • Empty the bottle of mouthwash
  • Wash out the bottle to make sure no mouthwash is left in
  • Pour in your favorite dark liquor
  • Slide the seal back on, again be sure not to break it.
  • Place your alcohol/mouthwash in your checked bag
  • Get drunk

Linus, did you ever think that the reason why you get owned in every thread is that you constantly bring up the subject? Its either that or you act like you know what you are talking about when you really have no clue. Do yourself a favor, stop acting like you are better than everyone else because you failed out of the Corps. You failed, and I don't know why you constantly remind us of this fact.

I don't care how what I say is "percieved", I never once had an elitist viewpoint about being in the military.

If you hate the fact that I bring it up, then quit commenting on it.

People are allowed to speak of their experience, are they not? Because if not, get rid of the chevron in your avatar. If not, then Bri can no longer mention that he is being deployed.   GI JOES SON can no longer talk about being in the ROTC.   Hell, just get rid of T&O once and for all, because that's really all it is... experiences.

I would like to present a hybrid method as well.

If you cannot find brown mouthwash, you can always just get normal Listerine in the bottle, and follow the dumping instructions, then fill it with vodka or clear rum, and add in food-safe coloring, 3 drops of blue and 2 drops of green to match the Listerine color.

I cannot speak for others, but I don't say anything to anyone until they pull some jackassery like you just pulled. If that wasn't elitist, I don't know what is.

I don't care how what I say is "percieved", I never once had an elitist viewpoint about being in the military.

Um, yes you always have. This fine quote for example:

Originally posted by Linus Linus wrote:

That is as elitist as you can get without coming straight out and calling the rest of the forum ignorant.

If you hate the fact that I bring it up, then quit commenting on it.

Maybe you shouldn't bring it up then?

People are allowed to speak of their experience, are they not? Because if not, get rid of the chevron in your avatar. If not, then Bri can no longer mention that he is being deployed.   GI JOES SON can no longer talk about being in the ROTC.   Hell, just get rid of T&O once and for all, because that's really all it is... experiences.

It is perfectly fine to comment on experiences, but you take it way beyond that all the time. I am to lazy and tired or I would dig up some examples of this. The fact of the matter is that you have no experience to back up half of the completely retarded posts you make, but somehow you think that your 2 weeks in MRP qualifies you to comment on things that you never even heard of before someone on the forums mentioned it? Please.

Grow the hell up and quit attacking people for getting hurt trying to do the exact same thing you did.

I am not attacking you for getting hurt. I am attacking you for thinking that you are better versed in the world and apparently "cooler" because you tried to join the Corps. Face it, you are no different than anyone else on this forum.

EDIT: come to think of it Nekk didn't make it through boot either. Its amazing how he never comes in these type of threads trying to raise his e-peen level, and its amazing how nobody rags him for not making it either. Maybe you should follow his example.

*sigh*

So am I elitist if in class, I know an answer that only a handful of people know? Again, it may be how you percieved it, but that doesn't mean that's how it was meant.

No, dig up those quotes, and prove them. No "USAF" fake quote bull**edited**. If you're going to say something, back it up.

You don't know what kind of experience I do or do not have, so don't try to comment on that. For all you know, I could have been in ROTC for all my highschool career where I got this knowledge from. You don't have to graduate boot camp to know military topics.

Did you spend time in MRP? How about RSP? My guess is no, so does that mean you can't comment on what goes on in those?

EDIT: Red also never comments on military threads in general. I do, which automatically opens myself to the "LOL" jokes, even if I wasn't the one that brought it up. If asked how much an M-16 weighs, and I answer, a "lawl2weeks" joke is sure to follow, WITHOUT me mentioning being in in the first place.

Its your entire additude that people have a problem with. You think that the military and police are better than everybody else. How soon you forget the cop threads...

No, dig up those quotes, and prove them. No "USAF" fake quote bull**edited**. If you're going to say something, back it up.

Ask and you shall receive.

My BCG's took 2 weeks after reception to get because of the special prescription, so for 3 weeks I had my civi's and I received crap every day from DI's for it.

FYI... military doesn't like transition lenses...

Since when do you rate to make comments about other branches of the service? You said that you wouldn't comment outside your experience, and that defiantly was way outside of it.

You don't know what kind of experience I do or do not have, so don't try to comment on that. For all you know, I could have been in ROTC for all my highschool career where I got this knowledge from. You don't have to graduate boot camp to know military topics.

There is a major difference between commenting on something and reminding people with every other post that you were in the military once.

Did you spend time in MRP? Yes. How about RSP? No, I wasn't a non-hack. My guess is no, so does that mean you can't comment on what goes on in those?  I have been in that company, so I believe that I can comment on that. Just like I can't comment on FLW, but you can comment on the Army in general, right? you can't comment on my 13 weeks.

The sad part is, this is the only forum that I ever catch flak for it on. Any other message bored, if I state that I joined, I get questioned, but never attacked.

There is a major difference between saying you joined, and what you do. Nekk says he joined if asked. You proclaim it from the hillside.

Linus, I'm not gonna point anything out specifically. I'm just going to strongly recommend that you just stop now.

Actually, I need to point this out. You said you don't need to graduate boot in order to know military terms. But you first commented that this forum wouldn't know what MCMAP is without google. Well, it's  a safe bet that the majority of the forum didn't graduate boot, so by your second set of logic they might very well know what MCMAP is. Time to stop and think that maybe people actually have family and friends that serve/have served.

As for the Cruise. Yeah guys, its an Odyssey Cruise, we get there at 6pm all dressed up. I am waiting to be told what to wear. then at 7pm, the ship departs boston the dock and drives around boston harbor and leaves and goes like a mile out to sea, drives around for three hours, and by 10pm we are docked leaving the ship after we ate our dinner and danced or whatever.

So its not a normal cruise, therefore, I have no idea how to get her booze. they could verywell ask her for her ID, and I could be like, did you bring your ID? no, god damnit. well she is older than me by two days. i doubt that would work but who knows.

  • Get drunk

I would like to present a hybrid method as well.

If you cannot find brown mouthwash, you can always just get normal Listerine in the bottle, and follow the dumping instructions, then fill it with vodka or clear rum, and add in food-safe coloring, 3 drops of blue and 2 drops of green to match the Listerine color.

I see you didn't read my post.

Ha! We don't really get along on base, what makes you think we'd get along on the forums?

Only time the Army really gives the Marines the respect we deserve, and vice versa, is when it comes down to battle and we're having to watch each others backs.

Get a long what?  Surely you are not making a phallic joke when addressing our servicemen.

Linus, there are several reasons I don't get the amount of flak you do:

I took a reaming from Badsmitty for my pre-bootcamp elitist attitude, then too his advice to sit on the couch and eat a twinky.

I don't bother getting defensive about it

and finally:

Most people didn't already hate me before I enlisted

If the forum has a selective memory for my occasional participation in military threads, it's because I admit I'm not much of a badass. I'll participate in shooting threads because I am somewhat of a gun-nut, and have been shooting since I was eight. I hope you're not that bad IRL. A buddy of mine continued wearing USMC sweatshirts and stuff after he got dropped, the vets in one of our classes hated him. He's since developed a sense of humility that probably has a lot to do with having one of his highschool team mates killed in Iraq and leave a wife and child behind. I made the mistake of wearing a skivvy shirt to a party once and took a lot of  flak for it by a guy in the navy and almost got my clock cleaned for it. My only advice to you is to drop all semblance of an attitude, even if it just looks like attitude to drunk people. I'll admit that having cellulitus on my nuts, mono, and pneumonia for a month took a hell of a toll on me personally, but in retrospect there have been plenty of people in worse shape that have made it, the rest of my excuses don't mean a thing.

While I do think normal civility would have dictated that the forum not crap on you so hard early on, you've really only perpetuated it. "lol 2weeks" has become just like "FEED IT TO MAH SNAKES" and "ZOMG METAL-FACE" just roll with it. Just do what I do when I get it IRL, shake it off, or:

1. Have a beer
2. Have several more
3. Take a nap
4. ????
5. profit

Just don't total your car and get a DUI and life wont suck, and if it does just remember that what's misery to you is entertainment to the rest of society and that you contribute comic relief if nothing else.

As far as I know all they do is look at your age. If the ID looks real then w/e. Just don't let them take it out of your sight.

I know what you are talking about. The ID's in some states have a strip on the back somewhat like a credit card and they can be swiped to verify that they are real.

Ok, sorry to bring back a waining thread, but I have been away for a few days. Kris, I did make my comments prior to knowing the girls age. While I still feel you should respect her fathers wishes, I didn't realize she was 20 years old. She should be able to make her own decisions more or less unless of course if you are asking daddy to foot the bill. Then, ahem, he is completely in the right to say no and than it is her choice if she has the cash and wants to burn the bridge. However, he does need to learn to let go at some point. Also, if she would miss any classes due to the trip, it should be considered as well.

And while on the subject of your intentions, I can promise you that no matter what you tell him, he thinks you are out to deflower his princess. Trust me on this one. My oldest is only nine and I have already patented the phrase "move it along she has nothing for ya sport".

With that said, good luck and thank you for supporting your country. God be with you.
