So, tonight is the Pennsylvania primary. Some are saying that Clinton has to win this to stay in the game and has to win by a lot to have it help her chances at all, being so far behind in delegates, states, and money. So, my question, mainly to the Dems out there cause we know the other side's opinion, is should Hillary stay in if she doesn't do well tonight? My thoughts are thus: I used to not mind her too much, I just thought she was too Washington, too conservative, and too corporate. Now I am pretty much to the point that I don't like her at all. Firstly, as she goes she shows more and more of the side of her that I hate. She is showing her ruthlessness, conservatism, untrustworthiness, and simple dirtiness more and more and I don't think this nation can afford this type of politician anymore. We are facing a war that should have never started and needs stopped as soon as possible, a climate crisis that is already effecting the world and that should have had action taken on it years ago, an building energy crisis caused by our reliance on oil that literally holds the possibility of the degradation or even fall of western civilization if we don't give the crap up and move on, and a government that no longer represents its people and only feeds the disgusting economic inequities in this country. We can't afford conservatism anymore. Secondly, and I guess lastly, I believe in the Democratic Party and its principles. What she is doing can only end one of three ways. She can drop out and let Obama catch up to McCain in general election efforts, she can keep going and lose in the end making the convention dramatic and possibly hurting the Dems a lot in the general election, or she can keep going and have the Super Delegates(which I think should be abolished) overrule the will of the majority of Dems in America. This last possibility will make me hate her. Not only is it undemocratic, but it could lead this country into another 4 years of Republican rule when all the Dems she disenfranchised stay home in November. That might even include this time, though I don't know if I could resist voting against McCain. But we definitely can not afford 4 more years of Republican rule due to the urgency of our current problems. This all seems so selfish on her part, and I even want to call it unpatriotic when I'm cranky....She has to quit. Oh and please don't turn this into a right v. left debate, beyond maybe rather Hillary is too conservative. I really want to discuss the topic as I posted it. Thanks.  -------------  |

She is bad for the entire party. Her and her endless nonsense are making the Dems look bad. As long as She is still in the race She is bad for the Democrats. From what I heard on the Radio an hour ago She is ahead in the polls right now  -------------

Fifty-two minutes. That is the excruciatingly long time that it took for the hosts of the televised Democratic debate last week to finally get around to asking an important question. Instead of getting to hear responses about what the candidates think about, oh, say the war or the economy, we got to hear Barack Obama questioned about why he doesn't wear an American flag pin on his lapel. That's right, stop the presses; hold the phone. Barack Obama was not wearing a flag pin. For anyone who actually cares about what is going on with the race to the Oval Office, it was painful to watch. However, this stance is not going to deride that single televised debate. No, that debate was simply a showcase of just how ground down in the muck this Democratic race for nomination has become. We have such an exciting crossroads between potentially the first female or first black president, and it all started off pretty well. Both candidates would actually talk about the real issues when asked. Everything has broken down though, and we are at a level of mudslinging usually reserved for high school class presidents. We get it. Hillary Clinton fudged her experience in Bosnia. There were no snipers. She lied about it. How many more times during this campaign are we going to have to hear her explain that? Should she just go ahead and wear a scarlet letter "L" for everyone in the land to see? The ridiculous claims take an all new level with Obama. The whole thing kicked off with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright "scandal," when Obama's pastor made some racially negative comments. Everyone jumped on it and declared it to be the death of Obama's campaign. All those jumping never seemed to take into account that Obama could possibly manage to go to the church and still not feel the same way Wright did. Things have only degraded from there. We should not be at the point where the main topic of debate with a presidential candidate is if they flipped the other candidate off in a concealed manner. That is the fresh new controversy. Supposedly, Obama, under the guise of scratching his face, raised his middle finger toward Clinton. It is ridiculous and unnecessary and is working negatively for everyone involved. We are in a very crucial time for this country. We are involved in a war with not much of an ending in sight. Our economy is toeing the fine line of recession. Our international relations and position in the world are sinking. What we need is for the Democratic candidates to start focusing on the important answers. The pundits in the media need to be asking how they are going to fix those things but instead are too busy wondering if Obama was trying to be Jay-Z when he "brushed the dirt off his shoulder" at a recent speech. The media needs to stop focusing so heavily on nitpicking and trying to find gossip and get back to the true issues here, the things that will end up affecting everyone. The potential voters on both sides of the coin need to understand where the candidates lie on the core issues that are going to be affecting them if they are elected. If one of the two Democratic contenders is elected, nobody is going to care if Obama shot Clinton the bird. What people are going to care about is national security, or the housing market, or any of the dozens of other things that are crucial to the life of the average American. The attitude with this race has to change for the sake of everyone involved, the candidates and the people they could one day represent. |

Duh, the republicans are voting in the primaries too, and they want to fight Hillary. They think shes easier to beat. I cant wait until Indiana primaries. Id be proud if it was my state that got to bury her. -------------

Hillary is too conservative. McCain is too liberal. This election has something for everyone. I really want the dem convention to be split. First time in a long time for that to happen. |

Had to get the obligatory anti-lefty shot in.  It was actually a very well written and balanced article that outlined the problems with this primary in general and, to a certain extent, the problems with the politics in the nation as a whole. On the original topic, I thought .Ryan described the problems with Hillary perfectly. My issues aren't with her as a liberal or democrat but with her as a politician. -------------
