Never had a problem and I've got both a newer 2 liter wide-mouth pak and an old school (over 10 years old) MULE pack neither of which have ever had to be repaired.

I've never had any problems with mine, I love it. Is yours an actual camelback brand or a knockoff?

I won mine at a paintball tourney. Let's just say, I got my money's worth out of it. Love the thing!

PS: Trick I heard. To keep it clean after use, put a little water in the bladder and store it in the freezer.

Or you can just throw in some denture cleaning tablets every once and a while and let them sit in a 2/3rd full bladder over night.

My brother pressurizes his so that he can just open it up without having to suck on it. Never had a problem with it except for that terrible taste.

If you run a mixture of baking soda and water through it and rinse it thoroughly, the taste goes away.
I use mine for backpacking and/or drinking beer, and I've never had a problem.

I think you can just buy a replacement bladder for like $5.

Wow, you get crappy gear. Ive never had one leak, the one i bought or what was issued. And how the hell do they burst?

heavy weight inadvertantly dropped onto it

yeah if you are entering a house through a window and use another Marines back as a step it'll burst. if you fall on your back it will burst. if its on your body armor like we wear it, and you go on a hump, the weight of your pack will make it burst. thats the worst. no water on a hump, and your pack is heavier and now wet.

That's why you put it in the safety of the backpack n00b.

bunkered- the safety of your rucksack is great and all, until the poop hits the fan and you have to dump your ruck to get out of dodge in a hurry, and there goes your water...in the desert.

yeah, we drop packs all the time. we never take our body armor off until its sleep time. in training that is. i dont know what we'll do over there. besides wearing your pack all day when you dont need to is extra unnecessary weight. i'll keep it attached to my flak like unit SOP states. just wish they were a little more durable.

I have a spin off and the bladder (not the bag) is extremely durable.

I've played many a rec and scenario day with it and have taken many shots to it. Many times I've landed on my back (including a roll I did after falling 10 feet) and I've never had it leak on me, ever.

Something tells me that Camelbak needs to update their materials.

i'm sure he meant camelbak and pak wasa typo. mine is camelbak. not a knock off. both suck. i had a knock off, and that one sucked as well.

Posted By: GI JOES SON
Date Posted: 28 April 2008 at 4:09pm
yeah, was a typo....like i mentioned i bought it in the fort dix clothing store the other week so i highly doubt they'd sell a knock off

they do sell knock offs at px's but you know it is, because they sell it under a different name. like a completely different company.

Have you tried the Nalgene bladders? I find that they are much more durable
than the camelbaks. You should give it a try.

what do they run for and do you know a good reputable site to get one from?

GI-  Are you active?  I've been issued two since coming to the 25th, each of which came with an extra bladder.  If you haven't gotten one, get a memo signed by your commander and go to CIF and get one, don't use your own money...  We barely get paid enough as is, no point in wasting money.

i'm not active, i'm in the inactive reserve because i'm in ROTC but i'm contracted so i'm in...we went on a training exercise at Dix a few weekends ago and we stopped at the clothing store on post, that's where i got it. As for my commander giving a living crap about my camelbak, not happening...we're not even technically allowed to wear them during training because all the cadets don't have one.

ha. we got issued one, no extra bladders. i saw someones burst in the middle of room clearing using sim rounds. he was used as a stool to get into the window. he didnt get a new camelbak... we dont get a whole lot of extra gear in the Marines, especially in the reserves. i am lucky i have boots that fit, oh wait, i have to buy them because they dont issue boots in my size.

Yeah, it was like that in AIT (Army training school.  I don't know what branch your in).  It sucked cause you have people that blow there money on stuff like speakers, and you have to carry around those heavy uncomfortable canteens because they don't want one.

But when you become active, you'll get issued a woodland brown one, and an ACU one.  Or thats how I recieved mine anyway.
