<link violates forum rules> for a student published paper that prints mostly creative writing and editorials. He's a creative writing major and wrote about why he isn't in a relationship and about how he judges the women he sees on a 10 scale. He threw in offensive language and ended the article with a joke about rape.

I myself found the article kind of funny, as funny as normal shock humor usually is and I could tell that it was obviously a joke.

Feminists on my campus could not figure that out.

They decided to call the police and report him as a rapist and he was threatened with being charged with second degree sexual assault (not actually possible). They have also been calling for an end of funding for the paper and a school review (censorship) board to review articles. Today was marked with protests on the campus due to the next issue of the paper being published.

Being the free speech advocate that I am have been involved in a few debates with women who say that they shouldn't have to read articles like this and how they now fear for their safety because he'll rape them.

I explained to my female roommate who is up in arms about this that it is protected speech and no crime was committed so he cannot be charged with anything. He never assaulted any girl, he just made a joke about it at the end of the article so he's not a threat to her safety. Censoring him goes against the foundations of our country and once you censor one thing you censor all things. She claims he violated her rights by writing this and she will kick him in the balls if she sees him to protect herself. I explained that he didn't violate any of her "rights" and that kicking him would be violating his rights.

She's no longer speaking to me.

That time of the month.

in my opinion, feminists are a disgrace to all women. they argue that women are equal to men and yadda yadda yadda. ok, so when men to treat women as if they were "one of the guys" and begin to talk openly, the feminists say that the men are discrimating the women. messed up. let people be people and let them talk about whatever they want cuz people have different "comfort zones".

Interesting article. It seems he submitted it knowing it would have a shock value which is sometimes needed in a school paper. The upheval of feminist crap is a bit overwhelming and sadly it's being far too publisized.

On the flip side, maybe he could have written something with a bit more depth rather than pull out an old blog from MySpace of all places. That just kills his credibility right there...

Feminists never cease to amaze me. It seems like they want to inherit all the benefits of being treated equally, but as soon as you mention added responsibilities they say it isn't fair. Who said the world was fair? If you want fair, go to the place with all the Ferris Wheels and caramel apples.

I enjoy extremist-baiting as much as the next person, but I also enjoy reading the rather goofy feminist-bashing in this thread.

"Feminists" are not a unified group, either now or in the past.  Their causes are also varied.  The central unifying principle is simply equal rights for women.  Applications vary.

Here are some causes championed by those goofy feminists:

- Abortion rights

- Voting rights for women

- Right to divorce

- Rights for women to own property

- Opposition to "female circumcision"

- Rights for women to drive cars

- Education rights for women

- Employment rights for women

- Equal pay for equal work

- Laws against domestic violence and marital rape

- Maternity leave

- Rights for women to enter into contracts

Yep - that's some crazy, crazy stuff.  Back in the kitchen, woman, and make me a sammich.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have been entitled to those rights. If they want more rights and can handle the responsibilities that go along with them then it doesn't bother me. They can sign up for the selective service just like the rest of us males.

The US != the world.  Women are draft-eligible in numerous countries.

But as to the US - why do you think it is that women do NOT have to sign up for SS?  That would require Congressional action, which consists mostly of old white men...

Lots of feminists would support SS across the board.  You are wrong to assume that this somehow invalidates feminist positions, and this is a standard red herring - "zomg women can't be drafted" - when it was men that enacted the laws making it so.

Touche, you make a valid point Susan. But even if it did get up to Congress, I feel that (and who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong) a vast majority of the females who live in the United States would not want to be drafted. Instead of a bunch of old white guys supporting the majority, you have feminists that want to change laws for the minority. Now that I think about it, that pretty much means females will never be drafted.

Unless, of course, there is a culture shift, which is exactly what feminists are seeking.

If there is a culture of equality, then that culture carries through, and I would think that female draft would be inevitable.

But at this point, frankly, we are very far from a female draft - our current (male) leaders are still objecting to letting volunteer women serve in full capacity.

Very true. Physical standards for both sexes are completely different within our military (at least Navy). Until that changes, I'm agree it would require a national or worldwide feminist movement.

Not to mention the hardcore feminists actually believe women are superior to men...  They really are feminazis.

Also, women are technically the MAJORITY on earth...  So wouldn't that qualify them as the sexists?

People truly amaze me sometimes.

Other radical feminist ideas:

- The right to purchase birth control

- The right to choose who to marry

- Paternity leave

- Right to have a bank account

- Female clergy

- Female leaders

- Making the Burka no longer required

- Not stoning to death women for adultery

- Allowing women to go travel unaccompanied by men

- Allowing women to wear pants in public

Some of those crazy feminists include nutballs like:

- Thomas Paine

- John Stuart Mill

- Jesus Christ

- Anti-Flag

- John Lennon

- Josh Whedon

And you know who else thought feminazis were crazy?  Hitler, that's who.

Women should cook and have babies. Not work. If they work then how does the food get made?

Of course they can't be drafted! How do you expect them to fit through the taps?

Interesting though that I think has been discussed before that really has nothing to do with the current discussion:

Women would have to be give Depo-Provera or something if they wanted to serve in active duty. Being on the rag in a combat setting presents all sorts of sanitary issues.

Because the sanitary issues surrounding menstruation somehow change when people are shooting at you?

I'm sorry - this is just about the dumbest point ever.  People who haven't a clue about menstruation keep bringing it up.  It is completely meaningless.

Watch it, mister, I'll hug you too.

Well, if you really must know why women aren't drafted, it's because they aren't strong enough to fight in a war. Or fight at all. I do think it's funny how people demand all the equal rights as men, but when people bring up the draft feminists pull the "women have never been able to be drafted, keep it the way it is".

That kind of makes me laugh a little, much like Susan stated. I've seen a 5'6'' 140lb guy dressed in his uniform. I'm sorry but if we're going on strength then I know plenty of girls that could kill him. I'm sure they can pull a trigger because that's all this guy would be useful for.

Exactly my point. If a 140 pound male can be in the service no problem, so can a female.

A-thankyou.

Feminism focuses on the argument that women are equal to men.

Chavinism focuses on the Fact that men are BETTER than women(except at having babies and being bank tellers).

Ok, women want to be treated as equal to men.  But we can hit other men, so why can't we hit women?  That's a bit of a double-standard, isn't it?

This seems like a personal experience type deal. If so, I want to know the dirty details. How many times did she hit you for it to go from rough foreplay to assault?

She claims he violated her rights by writing this and she will kick him in the balls if she sees him to protect herself. I explained that he didn't violate any of her "rights" and that kicking him would be violating his rights.

She's no longer speaking to me.

And now the Ass. Dean is making me go to a therapist to determine whether or not I have "serial rapist" tendancies.  I sure hope I don't.  That would really ruin my day.

Also, if you could start talking to your roommate again and tell her NOT to kick me in the balls, it would be much appreciated.

I don't believe I should ever try taking a women's study class now.  There are a lot of profs. that don't really like me now, and a lot of them teach women's studies.  Oh well.

"Feminists" are not a unified group, either now or in the past.  Their causes are also varied.  The central unifying principle is simply equal rights for women.  Applications vary.

Here are some causes championed by those goofy feminists:

- Abortion rights

- Voting rights for women

- Right to divorce

- Rights for women to own property

- Opposition to "female circumcision"

- Rights for women to drive cars

- Education rights for women

- Employment rights for women

- Equal pay for equal work

- Laws against domestic violence and marital rape

- Maternity leave

- Rights for women to enter into contracts

Yep - that's some crazy, crazy stuff.  Back in the kitchen, woman, and make me a sammich.

I agree completely.  I actually meet the definition of a liberal feminist.  Well...I did until I made a rape joke.  Apparently feminists can't do that.

Yeah, I'm him.

Personally, I thought it was rather badly written, but whatever.  I'm glad I wrote it since it caused so much stuff to happen.  I'm a bit of an attention whore.

And yeah, it is a little stupid.  I go in on Tuesday.  Should be pretty funny.

Did my 4 and got out.  I'm a 23 year old non-traditional freshman.  It's not really too bad.  They did make me do this freshman year experience thing where I had to take a class with a bunch of 18 year olds.  That was annoying.

Yeah, some days it gets pretty annoying.  Add that to the fact that I was already an angry person since I spent my 4 in either 29 Palms, CA or Iraq and it just isn't good.

I don't envy you at all. I am on one of the crappiest places a a Marine can be until I get out, but at least the living arrangements are alot better then you would ever see on a Marine Base.
