GuitarGuy, you shouldn't talk about what you aren't informed about. The Super Chromium barrel was an experiment from Tippmann about a decade ago. They only made 3 barrels, and they all went to select moderators here. I'm not sure what happened to them from there.
The Super Chromium barrel was polished so finely, and honed so tightly, it was practically frictionless. It is the ONLY barrel that ever existed that actually increased the range of a paintball marker at 280 FPS. It could maintain Flatline range at barrel kit accuracy. The only reason it was never mass produced is because the material and machining was so expensive, no amount of barrels sold could justify the price of manufacture.
In order to obtain a Super Chromium barrel, you'd have to find an owner of one, and perform certain "tasks" with a former member here by the name of Big Al. The only time people met with Big Al were at the various Tippmann scenarios with team OMHW, which is (was) the forum's moderator team. Good luck trying to get one...
Oh, you'd also need a sum of money. A healthy sum of money...

None of the pictures of the super chromium actually come out. It is either so shiny that it washes out the picture, or the emf if puts off shorts the circuits in the camera. So that point is moot.

Kinda like taking a picture of a mirror using a flash. Plus, I'd imagine the owners would like to keep them a secret so they aren't flooded with questions.

I never realized that people here thought those were a myth.
I know they are extremely rare, and only a few are known to exist, but they are not a myth.
Rock Slide (an OMHW plank owner, and mod here) had his with him at Splatterpark a couple of years ago.
He rode his Harley to the game and only brought his SL 68 equpped with Super Chromium, and about 100 paintballs.
What else could you possibly need?
So...they are not a myth, they do indeed exist, and I have seen one.

Good luck. the rarity of them is part of what makes them so great. The problem they had with them, was the cost of pruduction was through the roof since the material they were working with was pretty rare. They made a handful of them thinking they could sell them, but noone wanted to pay what they were asking to cover production costs.
It became too much of a hassle to try to sell them, regardless of how good a barrel it was (and it IS an awesome barrel)
After sitting on them for a while, the parent company instead gave them away to drum up business for further products.

People who have joined the forum in the last couple of years, do not know OMHW and have not been exposed to the story. So they just think it is a myth.

No. Reid Richards has this huge supply of hardtogetium, it's the Unobtanium and Super Chromium that's hard to find.

What you people don't get was Super Chromium was a name created for the metal alloy of the barrel. It used the element chromium, in combination with other metals of which I forget, because of its corrosion resistance and ability to be FINELY polished, while maintaining said polish. Since a pure chromium barrel would be silly the manufacturer created an alloy using chromium that actually amplified its affects. They labeled this material Super Chromium, and produced the test barrels out of it.
But, like stated, cost of materials and production was WAY too high to actually use this metal.

I believe it also deems the user invisible*, which just amplifies the effects of it being a "super sniper" barrel.
*Not really invisible, as that's a physical impossibility, but the great aura of shineyness put off by the barrel in effect makes everything within a certain radius almost impossible to see.

The exterior was not really that shiny.
The one I saw was laser etched (or something) with the words super chromium right on it.
The bore of the barrel was amazing to see though. It looked wet.
The impressive thing that I noticed was at the chronograph...my Mag chronied at about 290, and the Sl 68 chronied at about 275. But unbelievably enough...the balls out of the SL68 just kept going out there like a flatline.
It was a pretty cool thing to witness.
I don't know if they exist or not...but what I saw, labeled as a Super Chromium, worked.
Unobtainium, or notabletogetium, all I know is the stupid thing works.
...and I would love to have one for the E-Tac....although I know they only made them in Tippy threads.
