So did anyone else here go to the day of the rangers at hell's survivors in pickeny? It was fun as hell and I got a lot of playtime with my TAG 8, 12 kills, but the night game sucked. Our own team was shooting at each other and I got lit up by a guy after we both verified that we were white. So hopefully next time they'll work out those kinks.

always wanted to play a night game...sounds like you needed better communication with your lines...this might sound stupid but its logical, in ww2 and even now its obviously easier to tell your lines apart when patrolling bc the enemy is obviously speaking another language (in our wars histories anyway) and with a different uniform...in a paintball game, everyones basically wearing the same thing; jerseys, fatigues, etc.
where was the game?

did anyone blow up this time?
I trust that field owner about as far as i can throw him. "Sure you can bring homemade explosives onto the field!!"

Night games are generally complete crap. the main issue is that fields rarely have lights on the field.
While yes, players have been known to function in complete darkness without night vision, most players run around and hope to bump into people and eliminate somebody. Many scenario players are rampant cheaters, which makes night play even more of a pain in the ass; as people don't take hits and overshoot, because everyone is a cheater in a cheater's eyes.
There are also those people that are oblivious to night strategy, who leave hopper lights on (killing your eyes' adaptations to the darkness) and those who don't understand the meaning of silence.
Field lights allow players to know where they're going, make traversing the forests safer, and prevent brutal point blank firefights that happen all the time when you can't see your enemy.
It's worth the experience, just don't go out of your way to play at night. It's not worth the trouble at most games.

The main thing I hated about playing at night was you had no idea where your shots were going. Overall I thought a night game sucked.

In case you guys didn't know the story, at the field this was played at, earlier in the year.
The owner allowed a player to bring a homemade smoke bomb, packed in PVC. He lit it, and it exploded. The guy that lit it had hearing damage, a ref had a severe arm laceration, and one guy will be blind for the rest his life.
Therefor, prices were jacked up this year to help pay for their medical expenses.

Yeah I thought that the field owner and the refs knew nothing about it? From what I heard the guy lit it before anyone could tell him otherwise. And the prices are the same as they were last year.
I asked a bunch of players what color they were and they said white and I said we're white up here don't shoot, all of the sudden I was lit up, night games suck for several reasons but I think friendly fire is the worst.

I actually wanted to got the DOTR, but couldnt find anyone locally that wanted to go and not crazy about going to a scenario alone. I haven't been to the Hell Survivors field yet, but they seem to put on a lot of scenarios. What was you impression of it X-51?

sounds like general coverup, we have people that were there though. The refs stood around and watched while he lit it.

still a big deal but, how i was told they were testing it to see if it would be a viable device during there big game series' wasn't like it was in the middle of a game that it happened. they were off on a other field and for some freak accident it exploded thank god then and not at the monster game where many people could have been injured.

the player lit the smoke bomb, and it blew up from being overpacked, but only the top portion blew because of varying densities. Several people ran over to assist te guy that lit it, the bomb was still smoking, and then it blew a second time, which blasted even more pieces of PVC into the first responders.
2 people had to be medivacced out to UofM hospital.
