i broke the safety thing on the gun. besides not being able to use it, does it affect the gun?

 Get a new one, they are cheap. Heck tell Tippmann if broke and they'll likely mail you one for free. They did when my sight broke.

As for effecting the gun in any other way, no. But if your trigger gets pulled when it shouldn't someone could be really hurt. Get a new one.

most fields and scenario games won't allow the gun in play without a safety. I agree get a new one.
