So anyone with a scope and stock is a sniper? That's assuming and insulting. That's like me saying if YOU don't have one, you must be poor and stupid. I use 'em on my gun and SNIPERS DON'T EXIST IN PAINTBALL. And please, don't come at me telling me there are snipers. I'll go with Marksmen, that I'll buy, but sniper? Bye-bye. Nice rant...the sniper comments were sarcastic though...
Anyway, to the OP lose the capslock, it annoys the daylights out of people and then no one answers your post.
To begin with, lose the flatline. It COSTS accuracy to use the thing. It adds a little extra range but by the time it gets that far it is much less likely to break. Sell it and get a good barrel. I prefer the Freak by Smart Parts, but you can get something more economical too. A good paint-bore match is what you need for better accuaracy.
Some form of reg. or x-chamber would likely be a good idea. This will keep your gun working when rapidly firing if your using CO2. Or you could just get an HPA tank and not have to worry about freeze-ups.
Other then that the A5 is already a very good gun. It has a build-in hopper system that IMO is better then any agitated hopper you could buy. If you find your finger getting tired too fast you might want to look into a double-trigger.

it depends on the way you want to go. If you want to go milsim there are alot of options to choose from and really its your choice.
As far as performance goes I like the egrip. Its not necessary but it is fun to use.
Barrel wise the flatline can be good if you prefer distance. It is pretty accurate at normal distances but can be very easily effected by wind. My prefference is the J&J kit. I have used both and the J&J is a lil more reliable. you dont necessarily need a kit but it allows you to match up to any paint you use.
The feeder is great stock but if you want to upgrade the ratchet since there seems to be problems with some people's (altho mine never broke after probably 100,000 paintballs had gone through it but I changed it just to be safe) the JCS JetClick is great and it can be found for 25 including shipping on ebay.

So the difference being what...snipers kill people? I couldn't care less but I do like arguing semantics. I shot maybe 150 paintballs in 2 straight hours of scenario (typical) that includes 10 eliminations and effective cover firing. Less shots to take out a target is better so accuracy is important. Barrels longer than 12-14" may take to long to aim but can make a 1.5' grouping in less than ideal conditions to 0.5' and the stock will help stabilize your shot and offset [read balance] the weight of your marker. This applies to all firearms, bows(stabilizers) and markers. Due to the relative power of a paintball marker you can get by without a scope if you practice with it lots and know your marker. Other than that, a better hopper that is more likely to deflect shots and give a smaller profile. And a good consistent gas supply whether you like air, nitro or co2 is up to you, though the two former are more stable/consistent.
Oh, and if you're billed as a medic...don't get in the heavy front line work or stand in the open or lead "assaults". lmao.

Its not semantics...
A sniper uses superior range and accuracy to eliminate his targets from beyond the effective range of return fire. This cannot be done in paintball. It is not a viable tactic. That is why there are no snipers in paintball.

Semantics == "the branch of linguistics which studies meaning in language." http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&defl=en&q=define:s emantics&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title So it is semantics.
But I have seen(been taken out by) paintball markers used effectively to take out priority targets from beyond the effective range of all other markers. This was due to player skill rater than equipment. The point is that with basic upgrades you can play this type of game. You don't need to spend a grand on some phenomenal marker and trick it out with expensive gadgets.

If a word already has an established and accepted meaning I wouldn't really consider it a matter of semantics. Now if you are trying to change the established meaning of a word to fit your needs then it is semantics.
What is a priority traget in paintball? The last time I checked, a paintball player is a paintball player...
The most expensive paintball marker ever, chronoed at 280fps is going to shoot the exact same distance as a M98c chronoed at 280fps. The only legal thing you can do to give your paintball marker more range is a flatline or apex system, and even with those the accuracy at extended ranges is not good enough to place well aimed shots on target. You cannot effectively put paint on traget from beyond the effective range of return fire in paintball. Period.

Really? Just what kind of skills allow somebody to physically shoot farther than anyone else without the aid of a Flatline or Apex Barrel? The only way I can imagine is if you were shooting straight down off of a cliff.

Yes they do. I got to do some integrated base defense training with some of their folks quite a few years back. The position they utilized their MP5s in was quite unique. They showed me how to do it and let me try it, but it just didn't feel right. (Can't argue with their shooting effectiveness though; so I guess it works for them.)

lol! This is awesome. Okay first, a priority target exists mainly in scenario. Like medics, officers...the guys directing the team, or the guys with more experience who can get the job done. Second, there were some military guys, hopefully they know their real equipment this well, that played the last big game I was in at an old prison. They knew their marker, and how to shoot so well that they could account for wind, the markers' normal range and trajectory and manage to place two solid shots. I saw them coming and didn't think they were a threat...now i know better. They were able to do this repeatedly so it wasn't luck.

Good question, but I don't feel like rereading the posts to remember my original point. Somebody asked for a reason for something I thought was valid, that's the best I can tel you...it was last week.
Oh yeah, it was about why better skills are more important than upgrades. Train first, upgrade second. Then someone asked how you can shoot farther than a markers physical limits. The answer is you can't but through skill rather than upgrades you can use it more effectively than its commonly accepted limits because those aren't its real limits; it's just that not a lot of people shoot well enough to take it beyond that. I said this in reference to some military guys I had watched do it consistently. It made sense in my head.

Oh, the miltary training only goes so far as that's what those players happened to be...military. The real point is the only people I have ever seen do that much shooting, to know all there firearms so well, are hunters, military and competition sport shooters because that's what they do 24/7. In this instance, they happened to be military. In my own case, I am a hunter, I shoot everything I have quite well, bows, guns and markers (yes, I realize there are better players). These guys outclassed me and the others in the game significantly with the same equipment. Anyway why is this an issue? The point was that people should work on their skills first and upgrade second. Why are we stuck on this?

We are stuck on this because you claimed that having skills and training somehow bends the laws of physics and makes people snipers...
Archon wrote:

The maximum effective range of a firearm is not calculated by a persons supposed "skill". It is based off of sceintific tests that determine at which point a weapon becomes inaccurate. For example: The max effective range on a point target with a M16A2 Assualt Rifle is 500yds. The Max effective range on an area target is 800yds. These are constants, they do not change.
From what you are saying if I am shooting on the rifle range, and a Scout Sniper is shooting on the next lane over with the same rifle he is going to have a longer max effective range than me because he has had more training? I think not.

Okay, the medics were the organisers idea but that's what they billed them as...and yes, i think that's basically what they did...whatever.
The point about effective range. Now this is a general example, "The max effective range on a point target with a M16A2 Assualt Rifle is 500yds." Most people, even regular shooters don't have the skill to employ that "maximum effective range". Can we agree on that? Now assume with that equipment good shooters have a range of 400yds. The best can use that whole 500yds. The only difference is the training. Remeber the accuracy of those numbers is relative, this is just an example. And I never said anything about snipers in paintball, that was just a question over the actual meaning of the word.
To argue the science. Effective range is an average, scientifically proven the maximum efective range will be outside of +3 standard deviations from that average. Good shooters will hit +1 to +2 standard deviations. The top few percent of shooters will shoot very close to that +3 standard deviations maybe a little higher. Those are the guys I refer to, and the only difference is their skill.

Time for some answers.. Lol love the bitterness that is going around here..
I suggest the A-5 A2 EZ kit from http://www.specialopspaintball.com - www.specialopspaintball.com , trust me this will make your gun feel 100% lighter, and will scare you because it is so balanced...
Also get a MOLLE vest from http://www.opsgear.com - www.opsgear.com with MOLLE you can add on more crap and customize it alot better than the stupid special ops vests.. ALso I suggest getting for the vest the tank holder.. mount it on the back of the vest..
With the vest and A5-A2 EZ kit, there is no stopping you, go tag em and bag em' , unless you want crazy firepower, but then I would suggest the E-grip..

No we can not. I can hit a target the size of a man's upper body at 500yds consistently. For that matter, every Marine can. Every Marine is trained to engage targets effectively at that range.
Now assume with that equipment good shooters have a range of 400yds. The best can use that whole 500yds. The only difference is the training.
I will agree with the fact that training has something to do with it, however anyone can get the training as far as Marksmanship goes that I got. I know Marines that had never shot a weapon before in their life who after the 2 weeks of Range time we got in boot could shoot just as well as I can at the end of firing week.
Remeber the accuracy of those numbers is relative, this is just an example. And I never said anything about snipers in paintball, that was just a question over the actual meaning of the word.

I don't know where you found that information, but it is not how the military computes maximum effective ranges. The way we do it is on a bench, and the marker is fired at a target of a specific size. The farthest distance at which all rounds land on the target is the maximum effective range.

Okay, well I am going to apologise because I think we may have been arguing the same point and I was not seeing that, and while my information is correct it may lack the level of relevance to the topic of yours. Although I would argue that the military probably has better methods and training than your average joe on the field.
So, I do apologize but I stick by my belief that training will make a player better and should be followed before the upgrade route.
Brother, I hope we meet on the field some day and you can show me that training. As with the last group of military guys I played with, I don't mind getting tuned...in a nonlethal environment...as long as I learn something. And they were all great guys adn willing to teach me...after they marked me. Hopefully that holds true. Out of curiosity. Any idea of the difference between the training of American and Canadian military?

Training standards are very similar. In some cases the equipment is the same, in others different. For example the standard infantry rifle in the US Army is an M-16. the Canadian version is called a C-7 but they're vitually identical.
The US Army uses the M1 Abraham tank as it's main battle tank, Canada uses the Leopard II (both good tanks and it's open to debate which is better). Canada does not maintain a presence in Iraq but has had 2500 troops in Afghanistan since 2002.
They are based at Kandahar in the south of Afghanistan which is the most volotile and dangerous area of the country. They are part of the NATO committment in Afghanistan and coordinate their activities with US forces there.
