The Pens aren't playing well, but don't get too cocky yet. We'll see what happens when the Penguins get to the Igloo, where they haven't lost since February, where murdering cephalopods isn't "tradition", where fire alarms won't wake them at 1 AM on game day, and hopefully, where some of the best hockey players in the league will find their "A" Game again.

The Penguins just don't have the experience or the defense needed to win.

My mother in law does that. It drives me absolutely insane. She's a rabid Yankees fan, and everything is 'We did this, we did that' or 'our pitching staff....'
I want to scream obscenities.

the fans are a giant part of a team...without fans the organization couldn't exist...real fans are as big of a part of the team as the actual players

From a financial standpoint, the Nashville Predators are a great example. The team has a clause or something like that which says if they don't average more than 13,000 fans each game, they are allowed to break the lease with the arena and relocate without any penalties.

Until I start getting paid by the Baltimore Orioles or NY Giants, I am not a 'part' of the team at all. I support the team, but I am not member.
By such definition, I am also a member of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Girl Scouts of America, and every branch of the United States Armed forces.

Yeah, 24 shots against is a total collapse. I thought Fleury played pretty good though.

It wasn't the defense that killed us/them/w-e. It was sloppy passing and they started playing dump and chase instead of the typical puck-possession hockey that makes the Red Wings so strong. I still maintain that Crosby is one of the more over rated players in hockey.
PLUS, now they can win the cup in Title Town.

Crosby himself isn't comfortable with all the labels people throw on him, he's just a guy like most of the others that loves to play hockey and happens to be better than average. He's still someone to watch, lots of potential there, if you've been watching players like him come up through the minors, you can't help but see the potential if he keeps up at that level. I like great hockey and I'm not really rabid about any one team; this hopefully goes 7 games; Detroit has a great team, except for chelios.

What I'm trying to say is that Crosby doesn't deserve those labels, ESPECIALLY being called the next Gretsky, which drives me nuts. Crosby is a one-dimensional player. He has a nice ability to stop on a dime, which makes the often-times stupid passes he makes look better than they actually are. Alot of his goals came from attempting the oldschool stiffarm and wrap, which has been almost completely shut down against the red wings. He can't hit, kill penalties, or be an asset anywhere but on the first line of his team.
He may have potential to be an amazing all star as a showcase player on a power play line, but I don't think he deserves to be the captain of that team, let alone be heralded as the savior of the NHL.

You actually believe that? You think your cheering on your couch remotely affects the game? No, get over yourself. Fans are important financially, because there are bills to be paid, but you were dropped as a baby if you think you're "as big of a part of the team as the actual players"

I agree, wearing the C is an honor that's earned, he hasn't spent enough time with them to earn it, but for whatever reason they voted him captain. I remember watching Gretzky live in Edmonton his 1st year with the oilers when they were still in the WHL, he struggled the same way, and they hammered him hard, harrassed him etc; I think crosby will surprise many people.
