You'll just look ridiculous.  Snipers aren't real, and ghille suits will just make you more visible if you use it as "camo" while doing typical paintball practices.

Spend the money on paint to practice and learn how to work properly with your team.

A pretty experienced paintballer who is trying to be nice by helping you out.  Do what you want though, you're only hurting yourself.

I've got one that I made that works really well,I don't use it much though. Usually I just bring it with and throw it on for a game to throw everyone off. The thing about them is you can't just sit there and think your a sniper, use it like you were wearing any other camoflauge and go find the other team.

I would assume the police use some modified form of the Remington 700.  Or at least the action from one.  Not really sure though.

Snake, you forgot the M82, used occasionally, mainly in EOD/Anti-material roles.

snake- i think back in vietnam they had tossed a scope on an M16 and labeled it a 'sniper weapon'; what purposed that served i don't know.

as for a ghillie suit, i know someone suggested ACU blouse and trousers, but i have to disagree. The Marine Corp MARPAT (i think thats what its called) is much better at helping you blend into woods. ACU's are joke about as glowing in the dark since they're so light.

I made it of the abundant raw material's from the Great Highlands of Northern Michigan.  I felt it necessary to camp for 7 day's in the deep swath of the Yeti Swamp Territory while on Peyote to become one with my inner man tree.

Snipers never use M4s as their long distance weapon, only for backup, and I believe it's only the spotter that carries one.

What you see in that picture is not an M-4. If it is real, it's an SR-25; and they are used by Marksmen, not Snipers.

While yes, they are pretty much the same guns with different hardware and calibers, neither can do the other's role in combat.

The difference between a (real military) Marksman and a Sniper is, at the most basic, stealth.

Generally, snipers will be sent off in small, 2-3 man teams to do recon. 10% of the time, they'll probably have a person to kill or some hardware to disable. A marksman will be in the battle along with the other soldiers, and his job is to take out longer range targets and enemy marksmen. He may stay behind a little bit, as scopes force you into tunnel vision, but his role is not nearly as stealthy and separated as snipers, and he few reconnaissance roles if any.

The reason usaf and other members are recommending you don't waste your time is that you can't be a sniper or a marksman in paintball without increasing your velocity (illegal/dangerous) and somehow making your paintballs more accurate (almost impossible to do, due to the composition of paintballs).

In most paintball fields, you can get right up to people in broad daylight without being noticed, because stealth is more about approach than camouflage. The reason camo is so stressed in real world sniping is the extremely long range of guns. If you're spotted in real life, you're in a lot of danger. However, in paintball, a few guys can spot you from 100 feet away and you have a 95% chance of getting to safety.

If you want to be stealthy, just play stealthy. You can fulfill all your sniper fantasies without wasting your money on pointless gear like ghillie suits.

It's actually illegal to intentionally shoot a person with the M82, according to international law. BUT, I've heard from some friends that they knew people that they had shot opposing force's canteens and reported them as anti-equipment shots.

The law states that a .50 caliber round may not be used in an anti-infantry role. However it may be uses in an anti-equipment role/anti-supply role. Thankfully uniforms and boots qualify as equipment and supplies. Yah for loop holes.

Right, which is why I added the qualifier "Mainly in....."
There are instances where the Barrett is used against people, and believe me, they're not pretty.

Yeah.  I'll give you that.

Sadly, I know some people that are like that, not to those extremes, but that are WAY too much into video games.
