Christian Hell at 70 MPH. So here I am driving home from st louis airport after a week in mexico. I'm within one mile of the Ill/IN border at 1am when Captain Killjoy burrows up through the asphalt just in time to get a front row seat to the premier showing of My Car's Smashed Grill.      -------------

He really did a number on the car too. I'm sort of impressed. I don't often see that much damage done to a car by a deer. Usually just a bent up hood or busted grill, but you really bull's-eyed him.

i stopped shorter than he did. SOB was still breathing when i got out, died soon after. incidentally, it's kinda hard to drive a car at 70mph after being smoked in the face by an airbag, especially when it takes its time deflating.

everyone in the car ok? what were your 1st thoughts when you saw the airbag?
if it ends up being totaled (if the engine overheated it will be.) see what you can buy it back for. the body looks like its in nice shape and you can probably get 2 or 3k for parts. maybe more. ------------- saving the world, one warship at a time. |

You should search up my story from the last Halloween night. We were behind a guy in a crown vic and he hit a buck and it deployed airbags smashed windshield radiator was more than toast. At least you're alright though. Sometimes they go through the windshield. -------------

damn, insert thread jack. last night it was storming here, and after it stopped I went to drive my girlfriend home. In the middle of the street was a pug...i swerved and missed it's head by about a foot. It had no collar but it's safely in it's owner's house now. Good lord I was afraid I hit it though. /thread jack Sucks about your car though dude, that's a nice way to cap off your saturday night |

not sure if it's going to end up totaled or not. i dont think the engine overheated. if that were the case it did so in probably 5 or 6 seconds from the time i hit him to the time i stopped and turned it off. my biggest concern is the cost of airbags.

airbags will bust a windshield a lot of times... figure 2k for the airbags, say 400$ for the hood, radiator is another 400ish, then other front end structural damage (bumper/rad support), maybe a front valance, then paint... probably...4k maybe more in damage...but the cars worth more than that. ------------- saving the world, one warship at a time. |

it was the deer that smashed the windshield, its broken inward slightly. i was thinking around 4kish in parts as well plus another couple for labor. i dont think it'll be totalled, especially since i dont think our insurance covers deer. -------------
