I have heard of the effects of mentioning The Notebook to a woman.  Before, I doubted such effects, but now, I doubt them no longer.

So, I'm hammered.  I'm talking to this amazingly hot girl.  For some reason that I no longer recall, we bring up romantic situations.

I say some random, cliche crap, and mention The Notebook.  Immediately she says "OMG The Notebook!?"  To which I reply "I just happened to say the first type of movie that came to my head!" (trying to get myself out of talking about The Notebook because I have never seen it, thus really don't want to get into conversation about it)  She doesn't buy it and insists that I love The Notebook and that I am the most awesome guy ever.  Any doubt that she was totally into me before this point is completely shattered.

Even though her boyfriend is passed the hell out 5 feet away,  I could totally hook up with this girl.

Unfortunately, this thread is completely anti-climatic because no, I did not hook up with her.  She ended going upstairs to talk to my roommate about his ex-girlfriend.  They can both go die in a fire.

Though, there is a moral to this story - whether you have seen it or not, in the presence of a woman, mention The Notebook where ever applicable.

I am a better man for this experience and you should be too.

Goodnight.

Even though you'd probably just be shuffled into the friend-zone because just by mentioning the Notebook, she probably thinks you're gay.

I'm glad you didn't go behind her boyfriends back.. good man.

I lol'd so hard at that. Anyway, I don't think she's "into" you the way you think she is. It has been my experience that girls will literally kill people to get a gay friend they can go shopping with, as well as watch The Notebook with. Sorry mate, but I think you just friend-zoned yourself.

I have a friend who's gay, all of the hot girls from school go shopping with him, and dress and undress in front of him.  They let him be in the room while they shower, and as him occasionally if their boobs feel right.

I'd be more than happy to have one girl think I was gay.
Of course it could backfire...

The moral of this thread, do not try to pick up girls with boyfriends by mentioning chick flicks. It makes you look like a douche, especially when you didn't actually get anywhere with the girl.

You're only a douche if you are trying to hook up with your buddies girlfriend when he is passed out. If he isn't a friend, she is fair game and you are a good samiritan for offering to give her a ride home. Rule #4 of the Bros before Hos handbook.

Unfortunately, as soon as you mentioned the Notebook and she thought you watched it and liked, it she has already put you in the gay man-friend category and you had zero chance of scoring. Unless she is the type that thought she could turn you.

Live and learn younglings.

A "lame" way to get girls?  That is the most retarded crap I have ever heard.  Nothing that will get you into the pants of someone of the other sex is "lame".

Sorry we can't all be Mr. Suave who can hook up with 40 year old grandmothers.  Some of us have to take what is given us by the means with which it is given.

you just wait until your girlfriend cheats on you with a guy while they're both drunk.  Right after you had just got done talking to her over the phone, assuring her that you aren't mad at her.  Then you have to find out that he touched her vagina and she gave him the equivalent.

Hooking up with another guy's girlfriend is not a douche thing to do.

Unless, the guy happens to be a friend of yours

Exception to that: If you knew the girl first then met the guy, then it is not being a douche either.

That is all.

Oh, it is even better if she does it sober.  Trust me.

Those who disagree with rule #10 are insecure and have very little trust in their girlfriend.  If trust that your girlfriend is not a whore and will not cheat on you with douche bags, you shouldn't be worried about it.

No.  This is the girl that has reconfirmed your faith that there are good girls on this earth that aren't whores.  The type of girl you'd straighten up you act for.  You secretly make plans to marry her after school.  You frequently sneak over to the local jewelry store to see what type of ring you can afford..  This girl, she makes you breakfast, buys you gifts randomly, always offers to drive and pay for herself on dates...  the perfect woman.  You share so many ideals and interest in the same things.  You finally have a companion to make every part of your life all the more enjoyable.  Then you find out that because of alchohol and one of your really good friend's brothers, she cheated on you at a stupid binge-drinking bonfire party you weren't invited to.

People think they know romance.  Guys think you're real cool players.  But they are nothing but greedy, snot nosed children.

Styro that was an awesome post! There is something wrong with your post though, such a woman does not exist. Therefore no big deal!

Hell, I'm married to woman I love, even though shes not "perfect" just just less screwed up then most women and she loves me, so life is good. And shes totally cool with the fact that I think the Notebook is gay and will NEVER be a part of our DVD collection.

Wow, you guys are killing me.  Again Styro, sucks to be you. But from experience, I can tell you, that things don't happen if there isn't an inclination towards it.

Oh, and your friends brother is a douche. Unless you didn't know him. And if she was such a special girl, why was she at a party getting hammered with a bunch of dudes without you? And where was your "friend"? Way to look out for you. Looks like you need to do some reassessing in your life my friend.

And until there is a ring on the finger, they are fair game drunk or not. Hell, in my opinion, unless there is a ring on your finger, they are fair game.

Lastly, there is an immense amount of irony in all of you telling me to grow up as I am most likely twice some of your ages. You will look back at all of these "loves of your lives" 15 years from now and realize how trivial most of your relationships are until you get married and you have lived through all of the real obstacles life throws at you.

Butch up.

Oh, and your friends brother is a douche. Unless you didn't know him.  And if she was such a special girl, why was she at a party getting hammered with a bunch of dudes without you? Yes, i knew him previously, and he also had a girlfriend at the time.  and She was really just there for her friends, and one thing led after another. And where was your "friend"? The closest people i knew at the party where her friends and the guy she cheated with.  Way to look out for you.  Looks like you need to do some reassessing in your life my friend.  You do not know how much reassessing I have done.

And until there is a ring on the finger, they are fair game drunk or not. Hell, in my opinion, unless there is a ring on your finger, they are fair game.  I'm not going to argue morals with you, but until you experience being the completely clueless boyfriend for 7 months, you will realize how much of an ass you feel like.

Lastly, there is an immense amount of irony in all of you telling me to grow up as I am most likely twice some of your ages. Growing up =/= age, imo.  And a relationship being trivial is still no excuse to put people in a situation to where they look like a completely clueless ass... especially when they did absolutely nothing to deserve it.  Am I just supposed to turn the other cheek and not care?
