I was going to put this in the "official vent thread" over in Thoughts and Opinions, but it was locked.

The following is based on yesterday at the field:

Dear noobs,

It is a Phantom pump marker, not a sniper rifle*.

Furthermore, the fact that I am using** it does not make me a sniper***.

*I heard various versions of "where'd you get that sniper rifle" at least four times.

**I never even took it on the field, I was just chronoing it for some new paint.  (The smaller bore stuff added 40 fps to my velocity.)

***Based on overheard comments such as "I don't want to play against the sniper."

Shouldve played and one-balled then like a sniper. Haha

10 rounders or hopper?

I run a Winchester hopper and carry two 30 round pods for refills.  (At least with the Phantom; I alternate between BE 40 round hoppers and 12 round stick feeds with my extra paint in 4 10 round tubes with the Hammers.)

I also usually wear a sidearm when I'm running with the one of the pumps.

Wear a ghillie suit IMO.

You're lucky you get that. When I play pump (which is more accurately read: "When I play,") I get the "You have to cock that thing each shot? That sucks!" type of comments...

I get that as well; it's just a lot less annoying than the "Oh . . . my . . . god.  Your-a-sniper!  Dude, you have to be on my team 'cause I'm not playin' 'gainst no sniper."

Ghillies are generally nothing more than uncomfortable and impractical additional weight on the field.

Edited Addition:

I've decided to put a 4 power scope, a bipod and the longest barrel I own on one of my Kingman Hammer's.  I'll take it to the field and leave it setting on an old piece of camo netting so everyone can see it and freak out.

Go in and say that you want to play predator, they all hunt you.  then take them all out one by one and really freak them out.  lol.  I used to get stupid crap like that from newbs when I had my 98.  It was the stealth so it was really long.  always made me laugh.

Next time you are out Mack, drop on your belly at the start of the game and start crawling into the woods. Even if it is an open area.

Or ask one of the noobs if he wants to be your scout and when he eagerly accepts, toss him a colostomy bag and say "lets rock"!

Yeah, I am that bored.

^^^

I'm still looking for my issue M16 bipod to put on the pump.  I was thinking about mounting it to a PVC barrel shroud/extension . . . I wonder how long an extension I can make?  Better yet, I found my bayonet when I was looking for the bipod; I wonder if I can mount that on the marker as well?

Start out behind the group and start picking them off one by one. Explain afterwards that you are a Spy Sniper. You will be a God then.

Former standard issue M16 bayonet.  I'm already working on an idea.  (I appreciate the offer though.)

I've gotten the sniper comments with my Phantom as well.  When they start doing that, proclaim that it is in fact, a pistol.

As I have a stock screwed into the ASA and run the 13 cu. in. tank from a bottom line, I don't think this would work for me.

Even better.  They'll be so confused they won't know what to think.
