So I want to get a vertical grip on my bt 16 apex. What kind of rail do I need for this and what is a good vertical grip, if there is such a thing?

Picatinny or Weaver depending on the vert grip you like..

Check out brownells.com - they are very reasonable aand sell authentic grips and rails for AR-15/M-16...
