This solar car drive by my work last night.  I was like "what the heck? Did anyone see that?"

Then today I saw a short article online about it in my local newspaper.  Turns out its doing a world tour thing.  I thought it was kinda cool that I got a chance to spot it.

A solar car being driven around the world made an overnight stop in Port Huron.

The driver, Louis Palmer of Lucerne, Switzerland, said the two-passenger all-electric “solar taxi” will be crossing the Blue Water Bridge today on its way to London, Ont.

The car has traveled 27,000 miles since the start of the trip on July 3, 2007, he said.

The United States is country No. 28 on the world tour, said Palmer.

what jonnyhopper said.

that car looks like the biggest piece ever...could you imagine getting t-boned or worse in that thing? three people could (decently built) probably bend that thing back into the tin can it started as.

when they make jeeps or more secure cars solar, then i'll be impressed. past that, that looks like nothing more than a rolling tin can.

--oh, but its new and innovative, just another step toward doing that

yeah? solar energys been around since the 70s.

I love that young people are enthused about solar crap. The problem is if they ever had a choice they would never choose a solar car.

No drifting
No fart pipes
If you plug your Ipod or cell into the power jack you go from 10mph to 5mph
No AC
Night driving only works with batteries, now turn on the HID headlights you love.
You'd have to keep the stock sound system (pedestrians laughing at you)
If you took it to the track, you'd have to watch out for those powerwheels "sleepers".

It's true, no one will ever buy a fully solar powered car until it becomes a reasonable form of transportation. None of these alternative fuels will fully develop and be widespread across the country unless the government issues out hydrogen or solar cars on a mass scale because most of the country can't afford it. Then those that do have the better more fuel efficient cars get tax breaks so they save more money and then the poor class becomes more poor.

Our school has a pickup truck with a giant solar panel on the back, it looks ridiculous but at least its a real car.

You people are so behind the times...

Johnny has an excuse - he is older than McCain.  As for the rest of you, I don't know what your problem is.
