I found this picture on facebook dude, it wasn't a staged shot, at all...it doesn't even look staged.
Sorry I don't take pictures of myself , alone. If I'm getting a picture
taken, it's going to be with my friends...that's the whole point of a
frickin photograph, to have a memory-why the hell would you get one
taken of you, by yourself? I was at a concert, people were taking
pictures- this was the first one I found on facebook with me in a hat,
because I had it off earlier when we were pregaming...
Not to mention, it was a Rascal Flatts Concert- the majority of the
people there were girls...Jesus Christ.

Of course he's overly defensive. By his own account, it was a Rascal Flatts concert, and there were mostly girls present. Which means, the majority of the girls present in picture, there's a pretty good chance he doesn't even know. As for the picture he found having a girl up front making a suggestive gesture, and the girls in the back looking bored.....that points to something being up.

I'm defensive because crap like this happens everytime a post. It's a picture with a girl...it's not that big of a deal, yet everyone here makes it out to be.
ThatGuitarGuy wrote:

Great observation, numb nuts. The point in me telling you it was a Rascal Flatts concert was to show that it wasn't out of the ordinary for there to be a lot of girls. The only ones I was with in that picture were: the one in the white shirt and the one closest to the camera. The other people I were with are all behind the camera.

If said hat were a bowler/derby hat, I'd completely agree with you that it seems like the nerdy drama kids type hat. Fedora's (with the exception of everyone thinking it's the Indiana Jones hat) don't really have a "scene" around here. I would also like to point out that most of the recorded performances you see of Hendrix where he doesn't seem shy, he was probably on some sort of mind altering substance. Generally don't care about being shy in those situations, as you probably don't realize the crowd is there. This is also the man who spoke of guitar tones in colors.

The irony in that statement is profound. The fact that musicians tend to not care about fashion and trends, and dress how they feel appropriate, and then in their own way, start new trends. Look at metal in the 80s, and kids starting to wear torn jeans and jean jackets with band patches. Look at grunge in the early 90s, and flannel being EVERYWHERE afterwards.
My point is, I wear my fedora on stage because I think it looks good on me, I don't care what anyone else thinks looks good on me. I feel funny in baseball hats, my bucket hat doesn't stay on well, my boonie hat has turned into my paintball hat, and generally stays with my other pb gear, my marine cover just feels weird. I came across the fedora in a local music store (it's Fender branded) and it just felt right when I put it on. That's all there is to it, it felt right to me.
You can say I'm going for the look or whatever, I'm going for the fact I can look down while I'm playing, and the hat hides the audience. I'm not asking that you understand what I'm doing.
