Top speed is irrelevant, and Eclipses are perfectly nice cars. I also agree that this is one of the best Eclipse body styles out there.

Not mad - and I also like fast cars.
Just noting that 180 mph is a ridiculously high number when discussing street cars. There aren't more than a couple of dozen street-legal cars that are physically capable of driving at that speed, and it would be suicidal and homicidal to do so on the street. You might as well have said a million zillion mph.

You know that most race cars never hit 180 either, right?
That kind of speed is found in NASCAR, F1, and some forms of drag racing, but that's about it.
I apologize for going on about this, but it is one of my pet peeves when people get fixated on bizarrely high speeds.
Many cars that people think of as fast cannot do 180. Mustangs cannot do 180 without serious modifications. Corvettes only recently passed 180, and unless you have a ZR1, barely so.
Ferraris didn't generally break 180 until the 1980s, and most Lotus Esprits could not (and none of the current Lotus cars can). Only the very last model NSX cracked 180.
Porsche Cayman S cannot reach 180 mph. Most German cars in general are electronically limited to 125 or 155, including the various AMG models.
The list goes on. 180 mph is really, really fast.

Now, the GT-R, there's a car designed to answer the age-old question: "Will people drive a dull-slash-hideous-looking car if it drives really well?" The answer, apparently, is yes.

140 on the R6 on the Interstate. Pretty scary.
130 is apparently near where the Cobalt maxes out. Doesn't seem nearly as fast in a car as it does on the bike.

My friend has a Cobalt SS Supercharged, they max out at around ~144.
Yeah, the GT-R may be ugly as sin, but damnit does it drive like a beauty. I'd take one in a heartbeat, provided I could get up on the list and had 80k to drop.
If I needed a car with no room and had disposable income, I'd buy about an '04 Audi TT. My friend had one, and it was a beast after some modification. it's the same thing with the Subaru WRX

Right now the Challenger is a bust, but it looks cool I think. No amount of aftermarket support will be able to help a four thousand pound car, though. I guess for now its pretty much a novelty car.

Nice car man. Should be a fun little car.
as for this little sub topic
Fastest i have driven is 125mph and i have done it three times in 2 different cars and my Bike. To me 125 is WAY faster than i have any use for. In my car i rarely see north of 75mph. And on the bike even riding spiretedly i rarly will exceed 80mph as most my riding is done on curvy roads were top speeds don't mean squat.
Basically i like to run any car i own out once to KNOW what the car can do after that i guess I am a pretty slow driver.

First out, Damn. Good to see you around. Stay a while this time around.
Second, as per urban dictionary.com
|
Urban Dictionary wrote:
When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was
called the "whip". The whip is what you used to control the horses on a
stagecoach, hence the analogy. Many years later, various hip hop
artists noticed that the Mercedes-Benz logo resembled a steering wheel.
They then proceeded to use the old term "whip" to describe any
Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The term has now been generalized to classify
any expensive automobile. |

This is the real problem, of course. Eclipses are in that category of "cars that are not as sporty as they look." They look like they ought to drive on rails, but they don't. They are basically a Mitsu Corolla with a body kit. Still decent cars, but sports cars they ain't.
