I've always had the dream of getting alot of people and flat out buying a Home Depot or Lowes; the building and everything in it. Then splitting up into teams and taking anywhere from a week to two weeks to take anything and everything to design and build a fort on seperate sides of the place. Both teams have equal access to everything so creativity and resourcefulness would be the biggest variable. I just always imagined while walking through the different ways to use the aisles with whatever they held in so many different ways to add a cool aspect of play you wouldn't usually have in a typical game. And the battle ultimately after both sides had finished building would be epic. That would be fun.

any idea how much a building that size costs?

I priced it out because i was looking at renting an old Sam's Club to build an indoor field, they wanted $400,000 a year.

ya and thats not even including all the merchandise. If somebody was to buy a complete Lowes or Home Depot fully stocked with the building I'm sure it could be close to a half a mil.

I think it would be more than that. The huge racks probably add up some cost and all the heavy equipment such as lawnmowers.

Umm, guess again guys.  Home Depot stores average $36 million in sales per year. The buildings alone run $3-4 million. I am not sure of the exact figure, but based on sales figures and estimating approx retail mark up, I would guess an average store probably has between $3-6 million in on hand inventory at any given time.

Let me know how finding 500 people with an extra $10k just lying around goes for ya.

I realize, it is just a day dreaming kind of thing and yeah, it would be cool, but in practicality....

alright! new plan we kidnap a fortune 500 CEO and introduce him to paintball, thus making him fall in love with it. Then we ask him to buy it for us! its genius, now we just need to find a young guy, hey maybe mark zuckerburg would up for some paintball...

yeah and then he could turn around and use it for advertising...

dude aim lower try buying out something that would only be temporary, I wonder if the schools would be up for letting us put plastic bags all over walls n stuff then using it for like 3 weeks then cleaning up and paying them a nice fee and we donate some money and make the school look good for holding "fundraiser" and making this sick afterschool program, we hype it up even more all over and they feel happy for making cash and getting better rep?

Or maybe even use reball, youd have everyone not calling hits but it would still be alright.

Liability, liability, liability. Insurance companies and the threats of lawsuits are the leading reasons that it won't work. Here in the "Rust Belt" , there are tons of empty buildings that would lend themselves perfectly to indoor paintball. Unfortunately, no one wants to accept the liability of someone slipping, falling and suing the property owners for all they are worth. No one will accept that risk.

I'm with you! I have always wanted to play Urban Paintball just to see how it feels like. Like you know, SWAT style. A big building, 2 teams , 1 to defend and hold the hostages or important items (laptop, bags, documents, etc) and 1 to attack and rescue the hostages or steal the important items, of course, there would be a certain amount of time to finish up the mission!

Why would everyone donate? Not everyone would be able to play at the field.

Never got to do it with paintballs but got to try it with M16, blanks and MILES quite a few years ago.  Yes, it was a blast.  (Except for when someone accidentally throws a GBS into the basement window well you are occupying.)

The spray of hot wax (that is used to seal the tip of the round in place of a projectile) can be painful at closer ranges but the uniforms and protective gear tend to mitigate this possibility.

i just watched mr and mrs smith and it gave me an idea. Why don't we just storm an appartment store in the middle of the night and duke it out until the sun comes up and then leave.

we would have to find one without an active alarm, or maybe just one that isn't completely finished being built. but this would be easier than pooling our money.

Is an apartment store where they sell apartments?

that won't fly with the construction company or the developer.  The amount of materials stored on a job site is worth $$$$$  and they don't want anyone with sticky fingers shopping while playing paintball.

I heard that in the stimulus bill there is a provision to take all the foreclosed vacant homes and use them as paintball fields...

Too bad the locals didn't wait for it to be official.
"Local kids broke into a vacant house a block from Stone's and used it for a paintball war."
