Anyone ever try that?
Cutting a nut off a bolt with an acetylene torch with out damaging the threads on the bolt, or damaging the equipment your working on
Its surprisingly difficult

I've done it before with my dad when we were rebuilding an old F-150. You can also get rusted nuts off a bolt by heating up the nut with an acetylene torch, then taking an impact gun to it.

Its possible if there is enough space between the surface and the nut. Cut it off with a cut-off wheel. I have done it on a few frozen lug nuts before.

You should not have to use an oxy-fuel torch to get a bolt out. Heat it up and ez-out it.

Its about taking a frozen nut off a bolt with out damaging the bolt since you will need to possibly reuse it. Hard to get a spare bolt when your on the side of a mountain

The bolt's useless with no head anyways, you might as well destroy the threads on it.

All you really need is a little soap and water.

Your not cutting the head off, your cutting the nut off.

Oh, for some reason I was reading that as cutting the head off, I was like, what in the hell would you want to save the threads for if you cut the head off ?

Could weld on a nut to use as a bolt head for that one too.
