Fail troll is fail.

I want to be a cop because I want to be a cop, not because I can't do anything else. I'd be finishing my bachelor's degree this year

policeman vs. fireman...look it up on you tube. if you are gonna be a cop you are going to have to get used to it. Firefighters always get under the skin of cops and vice versa. always a good working relationship but since people like firefighters more we rub it in. and our test is harder...why not finish the degree before being a cop? Helps on promotional tests. I had to finish mine after getting on the dept and its much harder later.

Obviously I'm finishing my degree before I apply for the
police. I'd be retarded not to. Unfortunately I'm eight
and a half time zones away from my university at the
moment, so that's temporarily on hold. I'll probably
have to work while doing my masters though. That's gonna
suck.

Old joke is old.

Traffic directors? That's why we have Fire Police.

The fun of working in a Volly dept. is that many of our members ARE cops as well as firemen, so our 'working relationship' is a little more complex and much more natural.

And it helps me get out of speeding tickets locally.

Anyway...what I fail at:

Basic organization. I've got the organizational skills of a flash flood. I'm not talking 'planning' I'm pretty good at that, but simple organization. The desk where I have our bills is sorted into one massive jumble of 'paid' 'need to pay' and junk mail. Its not pretty.

Only reason SOME people like firefighters more then police is because firefighters are reactive in nature, where as police try to be proactive.

You see police on a daily basis. You see firefighters on your worst day, so you view them as heroes.

Quote and our test is harder...

Right, because knowing the difference between a froth over and boil over fire is harder then memorizing countless federal, state, and local laws...

I can relate.  When I get tired I tend to read things in a manner that the letters in words, and sometimes the words in the sentence, are in the wrong order.

Embarrassingly enough, being tired (or slightly inebriated) also effects my speech in the same way sometimes.

Fire Police are what some towns and citys have, it helps save resources. Cops carry turnouts and respond to fires. A town close to where I live ran into a problem of people setting a fire and then robbing houses on a different street.

Dude if you are seriously taking such offense to a little teasing you really should be a cop. I dont honestly believe that firefighters are better or that cops are dumber...its just part of the job, we jab eachother and horse around. Lighten up and "move along please"

Dude if you are seriously taking such offense to a little teasing you really should be a cop. I dont honestly believe that firefighters are better or that cops are dumber...its just part of the job, we jab eachother and horse around. Lighten up and "move along please"

so firefighters arent better or smarter, but cops inherently have anger problems?

just curious, that statement seems to contradict itself a bit to me.

Not anger issues but take things personally. like it says...we horse around. I guess most people dont do that

horse =/= people

I have a difficult time not telling people to shut up or eff off even when the situation requires tact.

On many occasions I have been counselled on this.

I don't know why, I guess I have zero tolerance for people's manure.

It's worse when I'm drinking, it's a wonder I still have a wife.

I'm awful with both.

I'm gonna make a terrible cop...

If you would have scored higher on the exam you could
have been a firefighter...like me. Its ok though, the
world needs traffic directors.

Fail troll is fail.

I want to be a cop because I want to be a cop, not
because I can't do anything else. I'd be finishing my
bachelor's degree this year
had I not taken time off for Afghanistan.

policeman vs. fireman...look it up on you tube. if you
are gonna be a cop you are going to have to get used to
it. Firefighters always get under the skin of cops and
vice versa. always a good working relationship but since
people like firefighters more we rub it in. and our test
is harder...why not finish the degree before being a
cop? Helps on promotional tests. I had to finish mine
after getting on the dept and its much harder
later.

do you realize how many different psychological tests,
evaluations, background checks, etc it takes to even be
considered for a law enforcement position?
