I just put an R/T on my 98C and was trying to sweetspot it with a newly filled 12oz tank. The CO2 lasted for maybe 5-10 minutes before it ran out. I then put a 20oz tank on it to finish finding the sweetspot but that's almost out too. Is this normal? I'm not even firing it at "full auto". |

| The R/t doesn't use any more gas than it normally would during a regularly firing. It uses the blowback gas, and the amount of blowback is the same with or without the R/t. So it shouldn't have drained the tanks that quickly. There may be an underlying problem that could have started with the reassembly of the 98. |

listen closely for air leaks while the marker is gassed up. Where you shooting it outside in cold weather? ------------- X |

You may notice faster gas consumption due to rapid firing causing the CO2 to have less time to expand, but the effect shouldn't really be that extreme. Listen for any leaks around all of the gas lines, including both the steel braided line (where it connects to the ASA and where it connects to the powertube) and on the outside line and connections that feed the RT. Also does your velocity seem higher than it should be, if you are able to judge it?
As Styro said, cold weather can also amplify the excess use of gas. -------------

| Thanks guys for your feedback. Cold weather is not the issue; live in Florida and I didn't hear any leaks. I did notice frost on the metal part on the flow control adjuster but figured that's normal but not sure. If the problem is the reassembly of the marker, what should I look for? When I put the gas line on the power tube I took off the old teflon tape and applied a new piece. When I fired it after it was assembled, the excess tape that was wrapped around the thread of the gas line leading into the power tube came apart and unwrapped. Is that normal? |

Yeah, I wouldn't say the teflon tape is a point of cocern.
And frost can be pretty normal under the high rates of fire that an RT provides, and also points to the fact that CO2 isn't having time to expand to gas form. Do you know about how many shots you fired? -------------

Mack-I was thinking the same thing. I got these tanks filled at Sports Authority by some real oooold guy. He was weighing the amount of o2 and I know some room has to be left for the air to expand, but he was putting in 15oz of o2 into a 20oz bottle. Not sure if that's correct so I took his word.

Were you pointing your marker down when firing, therefor having the tank higher then the ASA?
If so, you're allowing liquid CO2 in to the marker, and among other things, cause the efficiency to drop quickly. -------------

a 20 ounce bottle is supposed to hold 20 ounces... however, that much difference shouldnt cause this drastic of a drop in number of shots. |
