Agreed.

But any and all endorsements are of no consequence to me, no matter who endorses what party. I vote for who I vote for, not who has the most celebrities.

Obama just got more blackup.

Big thing to have a member of your rival party president's cabinet members back you up.

While I agree in principle that endorsements are of limited value, there is a bit of difference between Colin Powell and Ben Affleck.

I'm not sure how much dancing and singing Obama's truly nutty supporters will do because of this. Colin Powell is accused by the hippie types of trying to cover up My Lai.

This is where it gets interesting.

On the one hand, Powell always appeared to be the voice of reason in the Bush administration, and his resignation only increased his creds in this department.

Also fairly moderate on most issues, and generally a guy that most Americans could get behind.

On the other hand, he was part of the force pushing to invade Iraq, there are questions about Vietnam, and a whole bunch of other issues simply because he is, you know, Republican.

My theory is that the Obama nuts don't have to care - they don't have to embrace Powell, but simply note that "look - even the Bushies prefer our guy!"  Much as if Hannity had suddenly declared Palin incompetent.

They are part of a long term "sleeper cell" .  Real life China Syndrome.

And no offense, but Colin Powell is about as black as I am.

sad thing is, the average American doesn't have your intelligence level, or follow the same logic. That's what scares me.

It didn't take much for the conservatives to ditch Powell.

I wish I could pull posts back from when he was appointed, the glowing reviews of him.

As has already been pointed out, Colin Powell is not really a "celebrity."

It's really more like having a letter of recommendation for a job from a professional in the field.

Speaking of endorsements by quasi-conservatives, here is a quasi-endorsement by a conservative:

This one I found very interesting. Biographical stuff always interests me, particularly back from before the political ambitions began.
