Well, some may have heard me speak of my dumbass metals teacher. Yea, the one where we did the stuff in his driveway. Well, he's telling us about some lathe stuff today when the robotics teacher comes in and says, you know theres a lock down right now right ? Mean while we're all on the machines still. So he starts yelling and we get everything shut down. Everyone was being noisy ect. It started to be a while. Like a long while. And the teacher starts to worry and is like I think somethings wrong. Two kids were in the tool room and he tells them to hand screwdrivers out to the kids.... So like half the class has screwdrivers and our teacher is carrying a shovel... It was ridiculous. Then he says to me, did you just hear that ? Hear what ? The jet fly over the school. I'm like... it's a plane. No no I think they scrambled a jet. I'm like yes, they scrambled a jet so they can what ? Blow the school up and killing everyone inside ? But hey, that would include the bad guy right ?!?! Half way through the back door opens and the teacher is like what god damned idiot opened the door ? Turn out a kid walked out the back door, around the school and into the robotics door lol. So I get bored. Hop into the TIG welding boot and sit up on the welding table a my friend sat on the stool in the booth, we spent a good while talking about guns ect in there and making fun or the retarded teacher. Then they came over the PA and were like ok thanks for doing good in the drill blah blah and we saw the SWAT leaving. I can't beleive idiot thought it was real, and that a class of kids with screw drivers and a shovel were going to stop a bad guy with a gun... Yea, hit him with the shovel, watch him get pissed and procede to shoot us all in anger. I saw take a stick welder, clamp the lead and torch together, and get the guy to walk by, toss it at him and turn the power on, watch the person fry. Or wheel the tig out and blind them with the flash long enough for someone to tackle them. I really don't see a bunch of people standing around with screw drivers and shovel doing much... But I enjoyed watching him freak out. -------------

Yesterday before school started we had a deer jump through the window of one of our woodshop classrooms and was running wild, they finally got it into the hall after half an hour and out one of the doors.

In sophomore year in high school someone put a home made bomb in a dufflebag full of napalm. The SWAT team came with bomb people and everything. Pretty fun to watch.

Back in middle school some idiot decided to throw a works bomb down a stairwell as a joke. Needless to say we went under lock down for 4 hours and the kid and his friend who helped him make it went to jail. -------------

Clearly curling up in the corner and waiting to take the ever-ready bullet to the head was a better choice. I'm not saying he's not an idiot, but seriously. The real world is about doing the best you can in any given situation, because you don't always have the right tools for the job. My great grandfather, in his mid 30s, decapitated an armed soldier with a shovel in front of other armed soldiers. He got bayoneted to hell (and survived), but it was long after he'd done the deed. This was a guy sentenced to death, being subjected to hard labour (during which were regular beatings) and torture over a period of months. Considering the previous case, I'm sure a healthy teacher and a class full of kids with screw drivers is completely capable of stopping a teenager who barely knows a slide from a trigger. -------------

If someone comes in shooting, you might as well go down
fighting. Bullets aren't magical killing machines. A bulletdoes not physically knock you flying backwards. Unless you're shot in the head or heart, or have a broken femur or something you can probably keep on moving, and if you're in a life or death situation it's entirely possible you may not even notice that you've been shot. You can move fifteen feet pretty goddamned quick, and once you're on the guy, he's in trouble. Someone fighting for their life will probably be able to overpower someone who's coldly gunning people down. A bunch of students armed with screwdrivers can take down a gunman very quickly if they rush en masse. Yeah, kids are going to get shot, but less than if they sat their like sheep and just started taking bullets. Prepare yourself for the possibility of someday being in a violent situation, and promise yourself that if the time comes you'll go down fighting. Most likely long and obscene. He was doing the traditional punishment of breaking large rocks into smaller ones, so it must have been pretty blunt. The soldiers would smack the prisoners with the butts of their rifles every once in a while as they did their labour. The story goes that he was so frustrated that he just snapped on the next guy that did it to him. My great grandfather was a merchant, arrested by Greeks for selling supplies to Turkish groups (to which he was unaffiliated) which specialized in protecting Turkish people in Greece from harm during the fall of the Ottoman Empire. His combat training would have been minimal, as far as I know. It was the fact that his life was scheduled to end that set him over the edge. -------------

What the hell are you guys talking about? A shovel is an awesome weapon. Look at what that old guy in Home Alone did to those robbers.
Anyway, if I could pick one weapon to defend myself in that situation, it would be a harpoon. Screw shovels and guns, no one wants to piss of the guy that can shoot a 2 foot metal rod in your neck. |

Based on my experiences with tennyboppers and paintball, the only way to survive is to tell them that you're going to go for help/attack and then leave them to die while you fall back and find better cover and people with brains. Now hold on guys. I'm not saying a shovel or screwdriver couldn't kill a man. But that it never would have happened. None of the kids in there were taking anything seriously, and most of them have that I'm a badass until something bad happens attitude. I agree 100% on the everybody rush the guy thing, yes people will get shot but it would work. The problem with that is not everyone has the balls to do it. So you end up with like 3 people running after someone with and gun. I was content in my welding booth. Heavy equipment and brick walls on each side of me made the chance of a stray bullet hitting me just about impossible. And You wouldn't be able to see me since I was off the ground. And I had some nice pieces of metal at my disposal being in a welding booth. I think we'd do better with scribes though. -------------
