Well  Just picked up my new wheels traded in my 2004 VW Jetta TDI on a 2008 Ford Ranger Sport.  I dont do as much driving as i used to and dont need the economy of my VW but i do need a small truck to haul my utility trailer now and then as i am tired of borrowing my moms minivan (i like to buy and fix motorcycles).

Its a pretty basic rig.  Has the Little 3.0L V6 a 5 speed auto 4:10 rear gears and optioned with A/C Cruise Tilt and a bed liner and trailer hitch.

This is actually my THIRD Ranger.   My first one was a 1999 Reg Cab XLT 2wd and my second a 1996 Ex Cab XL 4x4.  All of them have had 3.0L v6s with autos .

Anyways here are a couple pics more to come tommorow when it is light again.

At the Dealer

After a short drive to work

See it is a BABY only 71KM

And one of the VW that got me through some ruffer times and even across the country on a very memorable Road Trip she will be missed

Nice truck man! I don't really even like trucks that much...but that one does it for me fo-freaking-sho. I love my jetta though...I don't know if I'd trade it in for anything but another VW.

Thanx all.  I am pretty happy so far its much the same as my old ones but their have been a few different nice touch ups here and their.  Power is not mind blowing but its got enuff to get my jobs done and should get a bit better after i break it in.

And yes it has 4:10 gears witch helps with the power thing.  4:10s are standard on the sport models with auto trans.   It will hurt the fuel mileage a bit but it should still be close to my old ones as it has a much better auto trans.

As for reliability.  My 1999 ranger was problem free with 112,000kms and my 1996 made it all the way to 300,000kms with only minor repairs (AKA general wear items).   Thats  more than i can say for the VW as nice as it was it did need a few things not much but more than either of the rangers it had 127,000kms when i droped it off.

And as promised here are a few more pics.

The Toys sitting in harmony

Inside very utilitarian but comfy

The important part The LAST of fords all iron push rod motors and easily one of the most reliable
