Subject: Reb’s big announcement.

Well, we've just finished telling the people who matter in real life, so its time I broached the subject here.

I'm going to be a father!

My wife's due in May, so I have plenty of time to freak out as this is our first kid.

I think one of the greatest things I've seen in my life thus far was the sonogram where we saw a heartbeat.

I won't get all philosophical about how life moves so fast and all, but wow. Just....wow.

Anyway, since I've 'known' many of you for a very long time, I figured I'd share.

May your first child be a masculine child.

Oh indeed. Kim (my wife) has had names picked out for some time. We're looking at "Molly" for a girl, and "Jack" for the much hoped for son.

I'd love to have a son as the firstborn...but I'm certainly not going to be too upset with a girl....just a little more cautious in the upbringing.

I say you take a new approach to naming your child... based on the way it comes out.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!! for a slow birth.

KABOOM for fast.

Cool. Kids are amazing. You will be shocked at your emotions the moment your child is born, and you hold it for the first time...

Get lots of sleep now. You will need it.

QFT.

Mack would make a good middle name.  (It would go well with either Jack or Molly.)

Edit:  I was so busy being a smart ass that I forgot to add my congratulations as well.

Thanks guys. Like I said, I'm pretty freaked out (despite this being planned) but not nearly as much as I am excited about the whole thing.

And Mack, I'm going to run the middle name idea past the wife.

"Jack Mack" or "Molly Mack" might not fly so well with the little lady.

Make his or her Middle initial S,

I don't care what the rest of the name is, just be sure to make it known that the S as a middle initial was in acknowledgment of me.

Just think, if it's a girl, you'll never have to worry about her getting knocked up, she'll fail with guys all the time.

Just, be cautious of all the glass roses.

And, congrats.

Just think, If it's a guy, he'll be a pimp, no matter what car he drives.

Seriously though, congrats.  Also, I like the two names picked out.  Molly is a good name, and Jack is a classic.  Hell, if it's a girl, you can name her Molly Jaquelin.  That's Molly Jack, for those keeping score at home.

Beat me too it. As for a name, my vote goes for Bilbo. Regardless of gender.

Oh, and congrats, etc. (!). Don't worry about your hobbies. Get the kid involved in them and maybe you can share it! I wished my dad would play paintball with me...
