so for the past two weeks my a-5 has been spraying paint every other
shot. i took every single thing apart inside and there is nothing
cracked/broken/worn. i used two different barrels, and took my stock
off, but still no luck. today the first shot i took shredded, and my
cyclone was flooded with paint a few shot later, but not much paint was
inside and around the bolt. its got a response trigger on it, but
that's the only internal upgrade. any ideas?

it was empire ramp/diablo heat. one week was high forties low fifties, yesterday was low forties. i was using a flatline and an apex

The weather combined with the barrels probably had a lot to do with your problems.

It could be the pin in the cyclone feeder that attaches the plunge rod to the ratchet gear these have been known to either work them selves out or were not installed back into place correctly after the part has been "up graded" to aluminum, You will immediately know if this is your problem by removing the bottom floor plate off the cyclone and look for scarring or gouges Iff your pin is in contact with the floor it causes the action of the cyclone feed to skip or "scratch" through its cycle causing intermittent ball busts in the chamber door ...lol A great friend of mine won a X7 up in Tennessee at the Scenario a couple weeks back. nice marker, his pooped out on him after about 800 balls...same deal check out the pics of what my A5 looks like after finding this problem There are 2 solutions 1 ) a thin Teflon washer to isolate the moving part from the floor plate of the cyclone. 2) counter setting the pin with a small hammer and nailset. (this must be done after completely breaking it down and securing in a vice ) I did this then I sanded and polished the part and re-finished the groove in the floor plate. Colder weather has a tendency to make paint more susceptible to breakage. The Apex is hard on paint because of the ball bouncing off of the rubber piece in the tip that puts the spin on it. The Flatline is hard on paint both because of the sudden direction change the ball takes as it leaves the chamber and enters the barrel (the equivalent of bouncing off a hard surface at about a 25 degree angle) and because of the rough friction surface on the interior of the barrel. Either of these combined with weather-related fragility could result in additional breakage. There really isn't anything you can do to modify the Flatline, but you could turn off the spin on the Apex. It is also possible that you got ahold of some bad paint. The only way to know for sure is to test every possibility under similar conditions. -------------
