US elected officials scored abysmally on a test measuring their civic knowledge, with an average grade of just 44 percent |

Half these questions have little to nothing to do with US history, and some can be a blanket for any 1st world countries civics...

What an odd collection of questions - some of which were quite subjective (or at least relative) indeed.
And I can see how most Americans would miss a lot of them - much of this is stuff that is covered in PolySci classes and law school, and not many other places. Can't blame a chemical engineer for not know a bunch of these.
Now lawmakers, that's another thing entirely.
29/33 for me.

I barely knew any, didn't bother submitting, although given I am still in high
school. Even so, american officials should have the ability to score AT LEAST
a 90%.

"Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) who, on a visit to JPL, asked if Mars Pathfinder had taken an image of the flag planted there in 1969 by Neil Armstrong! Quipped Rep. Vernon Ehlers (R-MI) to the Washington Times: "We just don’t teach enough science." Worse, Jackson Lee, who represents Houston, is a member of the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee. Perhaps some committee reassignments are in order…"
