With the wife and I trying to save every spare dime in preparation for the arrival of the baby in May, a tangible Christmas list seems sort of silly, so all I'm asking for is some peace and quiet- seeing as how that'll be a pipe dream from now on.

In reality, We'll end up driving back and forth to her parents, my parents, and all points between, shooting the ever living hell out of my chances for getting even a little bit of peace.

/bitter complaint.

A plane ticket to Huntington Beach, hopefully.  And it really depends on what the $ situation is for my family at the time combined with how cheap they get the flight, but maybe a game or some other stuff, my family treats christmas pretty big.

From my dad, I'm thinking about asking for an ipod or a new gun.

I had to go out and get my own present at 6am, a Nikon P60 Camera, but they will pay me back and make it a gift.

Probably GoW2, maybe some tires, depending on what else I get. Im going from a rusty 1997 Automatic 4WD Explorer Sport, to a "peppy" 1999 Manual 2WD Explorer Sport, and its beautiful. No rust at all, its from S. Carolina. More than likely 235/75/15 Dunlop Rover R/Ts. Im thinking only 2 though, since it came with basically new, street tires. I figured put the new ones on the back and keep the normal ones up front.

My wife and I tend to buy things we want and call them Christmas presents. She just upgraded her phone to some gizmo that she has to wait 2-3 wks for. I will probably go out and buy myself a new power tool, most likely a new cordless drill set because I am down to one drill with a solitary battery still accepting a charge.

Yeah, my life is just that pimp.

I really don't have a list.

My birthday is the 17th so I sort of get a bunch of stuff all at once.

What I've been wanting is a new snowboard, bindings, and Jacket.  I probably won't get any of those things which is fine, I planned on buying those myself.

I'm thinking either AS or Green as my fiancee is the die-hard Ovi fan in the house and I wouldn't want to have the same jersey as her. We just went to the Kettler Iceplex yesterday (where the caps practice and the offices are located) and hit up the pro-shop for new shirts for this Thursday's game. I got center-ice club-level box-seat tickets for $50/ea. On top of that, it's dollar dog night AND the club-level has private restrooms, bars, snack bars, etc. so there's no waiting in horrible lines at intermission.

I picked up a Green shirt and Erin picked up her Ovechkin shirt as well as another casual-wear shirt for around the town.

New set of Klipsch headphones.

New keyboard/mouse combo.

Fable 2, Rockband 2, CoD 5, and FIFA '09.

Xbox live points and membership, need some renewals.

Scuba tank for paintball purposes.

I'll be a very happy boy if I get anywhere near all of this.

Oh, also might have something guitar related coming from my dad. After me giving up sports as a teen and with him being a huge jock through his childhood, he seems excited at the least bit of musical talent I have.

what do you mean? until five minutes left in the third period anything is fair game. after that, you get fines, coach gets fined, automatic game misconduct. before the five minute mark, refs just sit back and wait til one person falls down to break it up

-------------

Posted By: scotchyscotch
Date Posted: 01 December 2008 at 11:04pm

fair enough. I'm ignorrant to the finer points of the game and wasn't sure if it was just too hard to try and break up a fight on the ice or if it was fair play.
The refs always look so laid back about it. and the players don't seem to have a problem getting in there once it's kicked off so i figured it was kosher.

The full rules state that the combatants get hit with a five minute major penalty for which time they may not be replaced on the ice by another team mate. Furthermore, the penalty does not end when a goal is scored, unlike many minor penalties. The "code" states that players must drop their sticks and gloves before engaging in fisticuffs as both would be considered "weapons" due to their hard nature. The code also states that for the fight to be a major penalty and not a game misconduct or match penalty which will cause them to be ejected from the game for 10 minutes or the entire game and the following one respectively, both players must "consent" to the fight. In short, if one player initiates a fight and the other player attempts to get away without actively participating in the fight, it would be a game misconduct or match penalty against the aggressor.

There are a whole lot of other little ins and outs. There's a whole article on it at wikipedia.org.

My parents require Christmas lists, in fact.

Mostly, my family asks for books and useful items, like kitchenware.  Normally the 'rents get all the kids something big every Christmas, or we go on a trip (Portugal, England).  I'll probably be asking my parents either for money, or a loan for next semester, so that I can actually leave my dorm room.  It's either that or quit crew and get a job.

Dude I totaly understand the demanding of the Chrstmas list. I'm 29 and my sisters 32 and the folks still demand an entire page single spaced. It's actually quite embarrassing at this point in life. I threatened to match them gift for gift this year if they don't start being more sensable. They do have a retirement to start after all.
