Did they make you an honorary mechanic or is that what you call yourself,  I thought you changed oil.

worked cashier and hardlines for a year but I hated it so I transfered to backroom. Not a big fan of going to work at 4am but I do get a whole extra dollar and hour!

Ouch.

Currently unemployed.  However, I make money in weekly COD tournaments in the dorm.  Also, this summer I'll be working at Best Buy. I are poor college student.

"Technically" I'm a lube technician, but we don't go by that stuff there. If something needs to be done it gets done.

Licensed Diesel Truck Mechanic for Ryder shop #124.

In Canada you can NOT legally work in a shop without being a licensed mechanic or a Apprenticing mechanic under a licensed tech.  We do have lube techs as well but its different as a licensed tech has to take all responsability for the lube techs work.  A typical mechanic apprenticeship will last 3-4 years before you qualify (by hours on the floor AND the required Schooling) to right the Certificate Of Qualification exam in witch you must get 70% to pass.

I have got 6 years in the trade (4 apprentice years 2 licensed as well as 2 in school).

Here is one of the trucks i http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=X-QmDYY1VyU - fix

The light blue one is the one i fix.  Its a Freightliner FLD120 Classic with a C15 twin turbo 435hp Cat bumped to 475hp and a 13 speed trans.  It is slow compared to the hoped up truck its beside but when you consider its a every day over the road truck and its running over 80,000lbs up a 13% grade its still kewl.

HEHE yeah its all relitive ya know.   LOL i originally went to be a Heavy equip mechanic as i wanted to work for CN rail but decided on Truck/Coach for better job security.  I have worked on my share on the Old Two Stroke Detroits though mostly of the 6V71s in buses but have played with the bigger toys a bit. I love the two smokes but a Big Cat is soooo much easier to work with and much more efficant and can be made nearly as powerful.

How ya like lifting em drums LOL on your brake job.  I dont doo too many brakes jobs no more i get more of the technical repairs now but i still like to get a brake job now and then show the new guys how its done dont need all these new fancy tools just a big hammer some swearing a bit of sweat and a long screw driver.

Lots of names for em beasts.  Green grenades, Two Smokes,

My favorite saying is if a you find a detroite Two stroke that aint leaking oil ya better put some in cause shes clean run out.

I did a full tune up on one back in trade school.  Did it dead on but the teacher decided it be funny to turn in the buffer screw and she ran away on me as soon as i started it.  scariest sound i have ever heard but i got her shut down by blocking the intake.  and then procceded to chase after my laughing teacher.

Jeeze, if there's a run away 2 stroke around me id run to a distance and watch as she blows up. Not a daily thing to see a old Detroit blow up and send 8 pistons across town.

Faveroite thing to do at school is drive around one of our skidders. V8 2 stroke with 2 feet of pipe coming off the manifold. No muffler

Best Buy store #498 as a install technician. I'm also a certified mechanic but I don't want to work on engines anymore so I switched fields while in law school. I also work as a Small Business Consultant for myself now, but used to work for a shaddy group of people called Crowne Consulting Agencies of America.
