...I hate Sidney Crosby more. You call that a fight? Especially when he
troed to act like he was sending a message. Ugh. I didn't know I could
hate him anymore than I did last year.

Also, ALex ovechkin is really starting to impres me. May be the best
player in the country next to Pavel Datsyuk<3. Doesn't matter anyways,
Wings are just too good to be denied, even if the analysts continue to
spite us.

Sorry, if this shows up poorly, trying to type on the iPod.

I'd agree fully if you'd stopped where I did in the quote.

Crosby is the embodiment of where hockey can go wrong. Ovechkin is the embodiment of where it can go so very right.

The Pens screwed the pooch when they hung their hopes on a boy with a pansy-ass first name... Sydney... That's a GIRL'S name!

Malkin I have to give props to, but Crosby is, was, and always will be nothing more than a mediocre player with good PR.

I also hate the fans that stuffed the ballot boxes this year for the all-star game. I hope this is the last year that the NHL allows online voting.

The above statement is true, just not about Crosby. Comparing Crosby to Gretzky is an insult to Gretzky.

I am certainly a Penguins fan, and I get sick of the Crosby bashing.

Making fun of his name, Tallen? Really?? In a league with a lot of Europeans with really odd names, I can't see how any hockey fan could make fun of a player's name. That's just childish.

They used to say he was soft, now he's been in a few fights and scrums, and he's called a cheapshot artist. He is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.

I simply cannot see how anyone could say he's not one of the elite players in the NHL. The numbers speak for themselves. He's already got an Art Ross trophy and a Hart Trophy. What is the deal, where you can only respect Crosby or AO?

I don't like the Capitals, but I can't say that AO sucks. He's obviously another one of the better players in the league. But lets face it, AO isn't going to be the "face of the NHL", at least until he can learn to speak English well enough that a non-NHL fan would be able to understand what he says.

And if you wanna bring up a candyass hockey fight that happened yesterday, I gotta bring up Tallen's boy Alexander Semin and his " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvxfXgFtiLU - fight " last night.

Fighting etiquette in the NHL says that you aren't to pull the opponent's sweater over their head. Crosby is a cheap shot artist for doing so as was Staal. If you saw Staal's face in the penalty box after that tussle, the entire side of his face was bruised from Semin going full-auto on him while he was on the ice. Furthermore, Semin has been out with major injuries for a good chunk of the season, I can't blame him for beating the **** out of Staal's face while he was down on the ice the way he did. Staal tried to cheap-shot him and Semin struck back the best he could given the situation.

There's more than enough room to say that Ovechkin isn't the only great player in the NHL. I'll tell you straight up that Malkin is the effing MAN. But Crosby is over-hyped, under skilled, and making fun of Ovechkin's command of the English language is about as puerile as me making fun of Crosby having a girl's name (which he does).

Crosby's a flash in the pan. Nothing more, nothing less. Is he a good player? Yes, but no more so than any number of other players in the league. He certainly isn't taking home 4 trophies in one season while setting NHL records his first few seasons in.

It's alright to be all pissy when people start bashing on your "star" player. It's just too bad that you seem to think he's better than he really is.

Yes, I'm a Caps fan, yes I think Ovi is great. But I also know that my team has one of the best and hardest working crews out there. If we didn't, we wouldn't be 4th in the league and only 2 points behind last year's Stanley Cup winners. That's not to say that Ovechkin isn't a huge part of where we're at right now. He scores goals and wins games. He also is the locomotive that drives the freight train that is the Capitals. Ovi gets the team fired up and keeps the energy high. Until Crosby can start setting that kind of a pace for the Pens to follow, he can't be compared to the other "golden boy" of the NHL.

First off, I wasn't insulting AO for his relative inability to speak English. He's a Russian...obviously, English isn't his first language. Malkin's command of the English language is extremely weak...he still hesitates to take interviews without his translator.

You are making excuses for Semin. If he had his fight straps secured, his jersey wouldn't have gone over his head.

And he would have still taken Staal to the ground and wailed on his face. No excuse there!

Talk about players who are better than Crosby. If Semin hadn't taken two back injuries this year, even he would be ahead of Crosby in the player standings.

You're probably right. Since the Pens started this horrible slump, neither Crosby nor Malkin are putting any points up.

Did anyone see the one big brawl Crosby was in where he came behind the guy well the guy was fighting someone else starting punching him in the back of the head then tried punching him in the family jewels? He should of been kicked out of the game, suspended, maybe even fined. He's an ok player but there are many players that are way better end of story.

Which is a shame since I think a lot of the "regular" Pens players look to Crosby and Malkin to get the ball rolling for them. It's the same with Ovechkin really. If the team is behind and he can put just 1 point up, we come rolling right back and can go from four points down to tie it up or win it outright.

I really have to give the Caps mad props this year on answering goals. They've come back in under a minute several times this year and erased the progress made by their opponents with extreme prejudice. Look at the Tampa and Rangers games this past week to see what I mean. If Crosby and Malkin could do that for the Pens, it'd be HUGE for team morale.

I just don't understand how you can say crosby is over rated. He's proven himself every season. He's helped the penguins make the playoffs every year and take them to the cup and at such a young age. If you're gonna be one of those stupid fantasy sports jerks and go my statistics alone you can do that to and he has phenomenal numbers. The amount this kid has done and I don't even think its legal for him to drink in the U.S. yet is incredible and its very easy to compare him to gretzky. They're the same kind of hockey player and we havent seen anyone like gretzky until sid the kid. Mario Lemieux is arguable though :p

I think that a big part of the problem for the Penguins. Even last year, Crosby was wearing the C, but they were getting a lot of their locker room leadership from their older players, Gary Roberts, Sergei Gonchar (it will help a lot when he comes back from injury), Malone, etc.

Malkin is still scoring assists, but without a goal in seven goals. Crosby just has been out to lunch a bit. He needs to get back into the swing of things, stop making bad decisions with the puck, stop trying to force fancy plays that probably won't happen, and just shoot the puck...but even in his slump, he's still on pace for 110ish points this season.

Ahh the truth comes out. You're just upset over that whole 5-4 OT loss when the Rangers "had it in the bag" two meet ups ago aren't you?

Crosby's got some good numbers over the past few seasons, but he doesn't seem to have the staying power that many of the other all-star players in the league have. He certainly doesn't have The Great One's year-in-year-out staying power right now.

Oh, and nice off-side goal last night for the Rangers. Go back and slo-mo that play, your boy was over the line, not straddling it.

Time will tell if Crosby has the staying power to keep his numbers as high as they are right now.

I don't think anyone has the ability to put up numbers like Gretzky. That includes Crosby, or AO.

So anyone remember Eric Lindros? Didn't people say he was the next Gretzky? Same thing with Lemieux. Yeah they both had decent careers but nothing like Gretzky. Same thing will happen with Crosby, Heck I don't think Crosby is even as good as the other two players I mentioned so stop thinking he is Jesus on Ice.

Yes, he does score a decent amount of goals but if you go on youtube and look at him scoring most of his goals are off tips, something any other NHL player could do, or just plain lucky some times cause the goalie had some bad luck. Yes he does have is great goals and plays but I think the only reason Crosby is doing so well in the NHL right now is his team and coach. The penguins have alot of talent other than Crosby, but Crosby get's all the attention cause he showed off in juniors. The only reason there was big news about him when he came up to the NHL was because he pulled off some pretty mean dangles in Juniors usually in shoot outs.

There's a difference from being good in Juniors and being good in the NHL and since he's been in the NHL he hasn't done anything great.

I'm really hoping your whole post was laced with sarcasm...

As much as I hate Crosby, I wouldn't say he hasn't done anything great.  100+ points in any year is great, let alone your rookie year.

Anyways, I thought Crosby's 'fight' was garbage.  Regardless if he asked McLean to go, that other guy obviously didn't want to.  I believe in the NHL thats look down upon when you force a fight on someone who doesn't want to.

Semin on the other hand had a pretty sorry finish to his fight, but at least both players were willing to fight.

I didn't say he wasn't talented, just that he's not the end-all-be-all that he was hyped up to be. I don't see his career going any higher than he is right now. He's plateaued IMHO. Out of the two wonder-kids of the NHL, Ovechkin has done nothing but step up his game while Crosby has just gone flat.

That said, Sid and Malkin probably aren't going to look so hot if they keep taking minuses like they did tonight.

All I'm saying, is that to think that Crosby has reached his ultimate career plateau, while currently residing in third in points right now, in the middle of a horrible team-wide slump, and while centering a line with a bunch of nobodies on his wings is just silly.
