Very solid, extremely reliable markers.  They were right on top with Autocockers back when mech's ruled the tournies.

Ehh, they're up there, but they can't quite pull the rates of fire electronic guns can.  They're really right there though.  I've always wanted a pneu-mag.

They are good solid guns.  Still upgradeable.  Very quiet for a nearly 20 year old design.  I have one that I installed a Level 10 bold upgrade, plus had the main body modded and powdercoated.  Looks great.  Can't wait to take it on the field this season.

Level 5 or Level 7? Level 5's are worth quite a bit of money these days. And if it's all original, the body is probably SS, and can't be anodized.

Biggest. Misconception. Ever. Assuming both players are equally skilled, the player with the Angel is most likely going to win. If the pumper wins more often than not, he's most likely the better player, thus meaning the chances are great that he's gonna win no matter which marker he uses...

And Sangreti, I was wondering what you meant by "accents!" The old Planet Eclipse splash kits! I've always thought they looked good. Very nice, but not quite "all original." Wink

And $600-$1,200 for a Lv. 10? I sure do hope you mean a brand new E-Tac-One...

Then can you explain why the velocity screw in my X-Valve is stuck?  And how I un-stick it?  I'd rather not take the valve apart, since I got it working pretty nicely...

I have a pic laying around here someplace, but only assembled.  I'd rather not take the valve apart...

The symptom is straight-forward.  Insert allen wrench, try to turn, but can't.  Try harder, still can't.  Stop trying for fear of breaking something.

It had sat for a while when this occurred, and was working fine the last time I shot it.  Which is why I just think it needs oil, but I'm not sure how to get oil to the velocity screw.

Simple logic really.  All things being equal other than the markers, the semi-user will pin down the pump-user until he eliminates him.  I've seen it first hand when the first semis hit the fields where I was playing.  Heck, even some of the seasoned pump-players were being taken out by the less skilled semi-users.  It has nothing to do with a speedball mentality.  In the 20 years I've been playing, I can count on one hand how many times I've played speedball.  He that throws the most paint normally wins.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh man, I seriously laughed when I read that. Oh my god, you don't know me, do you? I've been playing pump paintball for years! I just spent $1,110 on a custom Redux! That's stock class, 12g's and 10 rounds, thank you. I've had Sheridan KP's, PMI-II's, PGP's, SL-68's, pump Rainmakers, Snipers, the works, my friend. I've built many guns from the ground up, and have many in the works. I've been playing paintball since I was 10. I play rec ball and scenario/big game (NOT mil-sim, ugh) exclusively. Who are you to judge me?

But to be honest, it's the little "Speedballer mentality" comment at the end that gets me. It's truely laughable! You clearly suffer from a Pump Elitist mentality. Assuming you and I are equal in skill, if I have an Angel, and you have a Phantom, I have the major advantage. Just because you have a pump does NOT make you a better player! I wish more people would realize this. It's like saying a 'cocker shoot's farther because it's a 'cocker.

And as if I need to defend myself on the intertubez any more, I play and am committed to pump not because I think it makes me a better player, but because I'm worse at pump. It offers much more of a challenge, and I thoroughly enjoy getting lit up by semi players. Almost every time I'm shot, I learn something new from it. "Oh man, I should have moved sooner!" or, "I need to learn to get closer," etc. I may be better than you, you may be better than me, but it certainly isn't because you or I shoot a pump. Remember, paintball is fun. Nothing more, nothing less.

I play strictly pump, and no matter the sitation, I am always outgunned. [read: outgunned not outskilled]. Sometimes I am guilty of a Pump Elitist mentality as DeTrev mentioned, but in those situations I can back it up. Usually because I have 3-4 semi players on my team covering my butt and allowing me to get close and make some nice shots. Pump versus Semi is a very situational argument.

Yeah, I busted a giggle at that one too.

:)

But as stated above, DT's statement is pretty obviously true.  All things being equal, more firepower = better.  Thus Angel-guy has an advantage over PGP-guy, if all other things are equal.  Duh.

Can pump players defeat electro players?  Of course - if they have sufficient skill to overcome the handicap.

In my case, I like to play high ROF guns because I suck, but mainly because I like to unload cases of paint, and pump guns just don't make we want to laugh maniacally.

"Cocker shoot's farther because it's a cocker" ...  I actually remember those days.  To be honest my "Speedballer Mentality" comment wasn't meant to piss you off.  If it did I appologise.  I guess I was rubbed a tad when you claim my point was "Biggest. Misconception. Ever."  It comes across like punk kid telling me off.  Like my opion sucks the proverbial big one.

I never "attacked" you to begin with.  And you shouldn't HAVE to defend yourself on what is technically a simple place to post you opions and ask questions or help someone out.

Do I think Pump is better??  No..  But I don't think Semi is better either.  The player is the deciding factor.  Do I think I'm the best?  Nope.  I just know when the other side is underestimating me and I show them that.

I prefer pump because it challenges me more than semi.  When I play semi I end up finding myself playing like I'm using a pump.  The end results are the same but for some stupid reason the other side is more careful when I have a semi.

They assume I'm a cake walk when I'm using a pump.

I don't know why you're bent out of shape though.  My first statement was this

Slasherdan, I'm not going to quote that because it's a bit long. I'll assume you know what I'm talking about.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. You claimed you never attacked me. I'd like to use the phrase, "You clearly suffer from a Speedballer mentality." This drew me out to make me sound like one of the little punk kids you were complaining about in your previous post. It by definition is a personal attack, and I defended myself. If you did not mean for it to be, then you should have worded it better.

And I'd also like to point out the irony of telling me I'M bent out of shape. You stated the phrase "Biggest. Misconception. Ever," made you feel like I was trampling all over your opinion. Two things wrong with this: You didn't state an opinion. "Willing to place money" implies fact. And I've heard enough of that "fact" for it to drive me crazy. It's illogical. How does putting yourself at a disadvantage give you an advantage? The second part that's just not right is taking it personally. "Misconception" implies that I've heard it many times, from many different people. I don't know why you had to take it so personally, and shortly after accuse me of getting bent out of shape.

Lastly, I don't know where you got the whole bragging bit from. I never accused you of it.

Edit: And this is also interesting: "You on the other hand decided to make it into a lame arguement about 'what's better' and 'Biggest. Misconception. Ever.'" YOU are the one that decided to make it into a lame argument. YOU are the one that got all hurt over my post. YOU are the one who stated falsity as fact, And YOU are the one that's accusing me of being the instigator. The irony is delicious. I'd also like to point out that I never made this a "which is better" thing. This is once again you trying to pull things out of context.

All I made was a stupid comment that was based on someone else comment about some "kid with and Angel".

You then start saying I'm full of crap when I'm actually just a Fuddy-Duddy (1).

I then made the Speed baller mentality comment and you get even more bent out of shape.

I THOUGHT I admitted that I too got a tad "**edited**y" when you initially reply to my first post.  But I it was in my post that I removed and forgot to put it back in.

In all honesty though who cares what we think anyway?  Everyone has their own thoughts (holes) on everything.  And everyone thinks everyone elses stinks.

I built a nice MicroMag a few years ago, and it was an awesome gun. I still wouldn't mind building another one in the future, but right now, one gun is enough for me.

They cost quite a bit more to build. Like, last time I checked a single Xvalve will cost around $200, with a ULE costing about $70. Or you can get a whole ULE'd Xvalved gun for maybe a little under $300.

I was mad after I got my up'd classic Mag then saw that ones with Xvalves were a little bit more. But, no one with an Xvalve wanted an Impulse. Haha

You may have a better chance of striking up a conversation about the virtues of the Automag if you perhaps.. say... went to a site like http://www.automags.org - www.automags.org .
