Having your own room in college (dorms) is pretty sweet.
How was your day?

At this point, I can stay at an ok college, experience dorm life and all that. Or, commute (15 minutes) to one of the top private colleges in the Midwest. Both will cost the same when all is said and done...
I still am waiting on one college though, it's good and I'd live on campus.

Also, dorm life wasnt terrible. Half way through the second semester I became tired of it and wanted my own space. Apartments are so much better.

Troof!
My Jr-Sr. year apartment was built in an old home from the 1700's. we had the top two floors. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, washer, dryer, tv room, living room, full loft, 30' ceilings with skylights, spiral staircase to the loft, and a full wet-bar with fridge in the living room. Oh, and we had a sun-deck off the living room and a larger foyer where we could store bikes, etc. as well as a walk-in closet sized pantry.
It also had the magical love-couch where Shorty found his future wife. $1000/mo split 3 ways. Best apartment I ever had.
Oh, and the first floor was a bakery-cafe with good food and great coffee which was owned by our landlady.

Apartments are great. I love having my own space to just relax sometimes.

if you'd say get out of here tonight
there would still be rent checks left to write
where else could I dwell
with the room mates from hell
we lived in this place for the longest time
Once I thought my deposit was gone
now I know that rent control goes on

I wouldn't have traded on campus living for anything. The town surrounding my campus was a crap hole.
I had my own room, all of my friends were on campus, I wasn't paying for room and board (RA) nor was I paying utilities, for laundry services, commute expenses...etc. Plus, food was right on campus, so other than the occasional trip to the grocery store for commodities, I never needed to grocery shop to survive.
Economically, it worked out great for me to live on campus. Socially, it wasn't that bad either. The buses ran from campus to town and back every half an hour, until 2am.
I was content on campus. Quite so.

A new guy that transfered to my store at work is living on campus and it made me realize yesterday just how much I missed the good parts about living in the dorms.

Baldwin-Wallace College (id commute 15 minutes) is where more than likely ill end up. Newsweek had it at like 12th in the Midwest or something like that. Bowling Green State University is where Id live on campus, where its pretty much farm country 3 minutes in each direction, but its close to a few bigger cities. Then theres Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania if I decide to go the Intelligence route. Not to sure about that though...

I lived in the dorms for 2 years and didnt mind it. My roommate freshmen year was chill, then second year i lived with a friend from freshmen year. Third year i lived in a house with 4 friends (one being my roommate from second year), and this year im living in a different house with 3 friends (2 from the last house).
If you do another cribz hold off till Feb so i can post my new zealand digs. I dont want to take pics of the craphole of a house im living in right now haha.

I suppose a lot of my nostalgia for the dorms is caused by my hatred of my current living situation, **edited**ty house, **edited**tier roommates. That and the fact that there were 400 women in the same building.
