Our Circuit City already looks like Berlin May 1945, empty shelves, 2 or 3 employees standing among the wreckage trying to sell the remaining unwanted stuff, and wondering what tomorrow brings. Rumor is that most of the high priced and desired items were trucked out after a mass purchase. (Best Buy?) But whenI went in 2 days after closure announced nothing left.

So, I went to my local Circuit City today, and it was a madhouse. There were so many people that there wasn't room to walk. Employees were hanging around, doing whatever they felt like. Shelf stockers were working back in the home theater area, blasting out music generally not "customer friendly" to play in a store. Two employees were throwing a football in one aisle.
The video game section was the most picked over...Wii games and accessories were completely gone. There were limited Xbox and PS3 games. In the computers and laptops, the best selling computers were gone. My friend was looking for an Acer Aspire One netbook, but they were sold out.
The CD section was picked over...a lot of empty spots on the shelves, but it seemed to me like there was still a lot of CDs available. The DVD section looked practically full yet.
Based on what OS and some of my friends said, I was expecting the TVs to be gone. There were quite a few TVs left.
I ended up leaving with the new Beck CD, for 20% off the $14 sticker price.

My suitemate bought a 22" HDTV/monitor for $150 (haggled). He also got a 1000W 7.1 speaker system for $180 a few days ago.
I just bought a few speakers for my computer (so now I have surround sound).
It seemed they still had a lot of things left. The prices weren't as low as I thought they would be.

As far as I know, my company (Best Buy) didn't do any majoring buy-up of hot-ticket items. I went in to see how the "competitors" were handling the business, and they seemed to be out of sight as far as I could tell.

Went in today to find an external hdd. Found a few 500gbs for around $150 - 10%. Not a good enough deal to buy one, gonna go back tomorrow after work and try to get one for a hundo. Worth it to not have to wait for shipping...

I know its not, i can get a 500gb lacie for $82 from pcconnection but then i have to pay shipping and wait for it to get here. If i can score one for a hundred itll be worth it to me.
This liquidation does blow pretty hard, nothing good that i needed was on sale. Subs and enclosures were marked down pretty hardcore, but who cares?

If circuit city would've sold college text books then maybe I would've got a good deal.
