+12 epeen for the first person to find the comic strip with the guy having this massively awesome dream. He wakes up, and begins to walk down the stairs to tell his girlfriend or friend about it, but on the way down the stairs the dream begins to fade to just him standing in the thought bubble.

Thank you for your time and effort.

I don't take that cartoon as necessarily sad.  I read it as Calvin passing Hobbes (and the associated good times/magical imagination) on to his offspring.

Choopie, is there a story behind that cartoon?

My thoughts exactly, if anything its happy.  When adults look at Hobbes they see a stuffed tiger always, in this panel Calvin is still looking at Hobbes as his old buddy, nothing has changed.

In fact, if you look closely the girl looks like Susie and Calvin.

It looks more like he's had a bastard child with Susie and is just giving her his old "toy" during an unsupervised visit.

I think although it's sad, it gives some closure.
Calvin and Susie had a child, who looks just like her.
Calvin passes Hobbes onto his child to enjoy the things he did.

Sad, but there's some closure.

How did you not slit your wrists seeing that every day?  That one almost made me cry, at least until someone came up with the alternative "Calvin's offspring" theory.

I was depressed as it was and I didn't want to come out of it. Having that as your background really helps.

^^^Okay, now that one is sad.  It's like a metaphor for current society with the demands/desires of adults destroying the innocence of their children.

Calvin and Hobbes is such a great comic.  I wish I've read more when they where in the paper.
