so i showed up at work today and my super said 2 people were going to little creek. i jumped up and said il go...

it was a whole different world... i get to my work station on the ship and coming around the corner i bump into a dude wearing a ski mask carrying an M16.

a little while later we are cutting parts of the ship off and all of a sudden a missile turret starts whipping around. later im checking out this 20MM(?) cannon and look over and theres a 4x2 plate that says "this side towards enemy" kinda freaked me out but once i figured out it was just an armor plate i felt a little better.

earlier in the week i saw a sign that said something along the line of "radioactive area on other side, no bunking or loitering"

works going well though learning alot and seeing a ton of cool stuff.

What kind of ship were you on? Sounds like it might be a Sea Sparrow turret.

ship was an LSD, http://navysite.de/launcher/ram.htm thats what it looked like. we also used a decoy(?) launcher as a work bench

seeing guys in BDUs carrying guns is nothing surprising (NAVY MPs wear BDUS)

he just had navy blues on (straight leg pants and a light jacket.) but had a ski mask to keep his face warm.

Friend of mine (civilian) used to work at the DEA, in an office setting.  Mostly suit types, normal boring officey stuff.

But occasionally at random intervals, an entire SWAT team in full gear would jam into the elevator with the accountants.  Made for an interesting visual.

CWIS (Sea Whiz) is a pretty sweet system, although I heard it breaks down quite a bit. I know a few guys here that went to Iraq and worked with the CRAM as well, which is a land based version of the CWIS meant to shoot down SCUDs and other airborne threats.

Haha, nah I'm not on a ship right now. I'm at a training facility in Dahlgren that has courses involving AEGIS. A lot of the guys here worked on CWIS before doing AEGIS, so I hear some stories.
