My roomate and I were just discussing an interesting idea. With the cure for diabetes right around the corner, could this be the begining of the end? Could this cause a real life 'I am Legend'? I need to start preparing incase this scenerio becomes a reality.

Basically minorities take over the world, since they become immune to disease and overthrow whitey. It's sort of like planet of the apes, but with minorities.....being majorities.

I'll try link hunting later, but there have been major developments in potential cancer cures that have gone largely ignored.
I know this link isn't super substantial, but it sort of works:

Diabetes is what...the 6th leading cause of death in the US? I HIGHLY doubt that if a "cure" is found, it will be disregarded and kept a secret.

It's going to take some awfully specific evidence for me to believe this. Scientists don't ignore potential cancer cures for financial benefits.

No, scientists don't, but those with more interest in treatment than cures do, and they're the ones who can provide the most funding.

That makes no sense.
The company that owned the rights to an actual cancer panacea would be the richest company of all time.
By your theory, no cures would ever be invented, only ongoing treatment drugs. This is completely inconsistent with all of human history.
These conspiracy theories make no sense.

[QUOTE=choopie911] I'll try link hunting later, but there have been major developments in potential cancer cures that have gone largely ignored. Inspired by Whale's post, I spent 30 seconds on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dichloroacetic_acid#Potential_cancer_applications - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dichloroacetic_acid#Potential_cancer_applications
Doesn't look like a major development, nor does it look ignored. Looks like a research project that is getting due attention.
