Pretty much as poll says. Who is in control. I say driver, my fiance passenger says her.
True there is a different dynamic there as well, but still the poll stands.

Depends. Mostly I say the driver but I have, on occasion, allowed my best friend to wander through radio stations while riding with me.

The passenger only controls the stereo upon the driver's consent. The exception to this being, the passenger owns the car.

My wife, until she drives me to snap by constantly skipping through various CD's to listen to one song and than changing it to another as soon as the song is done rather than letting the CD just play through.

I let my DD choose whatever music they like. They are doing me a HUGE favor, I will at least let them listen to what they like.

the driver does unless he has both of his son's in the car. Then it is subject to whatever shuts them up.

Haha! My dad tried that when I was younger. All it did, was give me good taste in music. (60's-70's), and was able to know all the words of the songs he liked! Lol

My passenger is my wife 99% of the time. She's big on listening to music, Me, not so much. She'll usually turn on the radio, listen to whatever she wants, while I just completely zone out. So, she controls the radio, I don't usually give a darn.

Well, my boys (ages 7 and 2) like of all things, Metallica (pre-Black album), Slayer, Led Zep, AC-DC, and Black Sabbath. So I ride happily along with my boys!
But when my wife is in the car...

My ipod is connected to my car at all times. Normally the passenger is in control of music as the co-pilot, but I may override a decision if need be.

The hierarchy:
The purchaser of the ride (if a commercial operation) Owner of Car Driver Front Passenger (if driver doesn't care)
Volume is always limited by driver's wishes.

Generally I let my passenger choose the music because I have a nasty habit of being a habitual song changer.
Only one condition; Has to be music that I'm ok with, ie no bluegrass, gangster rap, or gospel.
Generally the passenger just keeps my ipod plugged in, which has more then enough diversity anyhow.

So essentially in this way, I am in full control as there is NO way they can play something i won't like, and if im not feelin the current song i will, as Dye stated, override it.
Owner of the car has control unless otherwise stated.
