start with average quality balls like RPS BigBall or something or even RPS Premuims (which arent premium though). if those still terrible, then move to higher quality like marballizers or nelson special forces or anarchy.some of the better stuff. if still nothing good comes out, then find out what is really breaking paint, then replace it. if it is the hopper, then the cycling paddles in the cyclone feed may be breaking everything. if it is the feed, make sure the paddles arent on backwards(if they can be backwards...(???)). and again. if nothing good happens, buy rubber paddles and so forth.

also the kind of paint is up to you, and also depends on the barrel your using as youll want a good ball-barrel match

in the flatline i found that formula 13, RPS Premiums (which are a nice quality, and blaze all worked well for the bore size

Also depends on your weather. If its really cold outside, you wil have issues with paint breakage regardless of the brand. Personally, my favorite so far have been Origins tournament grade.

Flatlines are hard on paint, you want a stronger less brittle shell.

I'd recommend formula 13. I've been using it for a while now, and even in the 20's it works fine, and I haven't had one break in my gun or barrel yet.

yea that is why i liked the formula 13.  i also noticed that the winter balls tend not to be too great because of their added diameter i guess.  maybe it was just my batch so if anyone has had dif luck post up on that.

well if you need a hard shell then nelson has bee known for that. i have yet to try anarchy in my 98C, and i chose anarchy because the barrel bore i have in a large one so i need large paint. and i found a chart showing anarchy as .692+

for a chart just google paintball bore chart
