So last Monday I turned in a paper for my history class, its an upper division history course dealing with the American experience in the Vietnam conflict.  I've had the teacher before and he grades papers tough so I knew what was coming.

I turned in my paper last Monday and was feeling quite good about it, I finished revising it a few days before it was due and it was a no stress deal for me.

Well I get the paper back today at the end of class and on the way out I just glance at the grade, I got a 90, or as he put it, an A/B.

Well tonight I grabbed it to read his in depth comments, I read over page one and two, and then I hit three and its completely blank, there's nothing printed on the page at all.  So I head to four and realize that my paper is completely void of page 3.

But somehow I got an 90, I wonder what I could have gotten had I had a third page.

Or what if the third page had been really bad and messed up your score Tongue

Wow, shows how much they pay attention when marker. The stairwell method might not be far off.

Yup, he actually said that.

You should bring that to his attention and see if he'll let you submit page 3.

i would let it go because he seems to think you deserve a 90 without grading. If you show him this mistake and make him realize that you know he didn't really grade it he might start to grade harder on you just to make up for it.

Yeah, say nothing.

A 90 is worth taking.

So he grades your paper without really reading it?

Is this the norm for most universities/colleges?

I wrote a disgusting paper and I get it back on Thursday. Can't wait for the 65 I am going to get on it.

Fight the power man, point out their mistakes and rub their face in it! Then get the 100% you deserve. [/devils advocate]

Dave: What was your assigned book. I took the same class.

He read the paper, he put marks on every page, I just wonder what he thought when my paper just took a sidetrack and went somewhere different.

And the book was David Halberstam's "The Making of a Quagmire: America and Vietnam during the Kennedy Era"

^^^Actually, having helped others with "peer editing," you would be surprised how many people take sidetracks without leaving out a page.  If it still basically made sense and was well-written he may have thought you just made a minor editing error.

teachers an idiot and you got a 90? i wish i was that lucky...might not hurt to ask him about turning in the 3rd paper, but if hes that sort of grader, my guess is he'll say it should have been proofread before being turned in, so he wouldn't take it. i hate professors who pull that

Obviously don't point it out, since you got a good mark, but yeah, here:
