Does anyone know of some good high fairly high output smoke grenades for a cheap price?  And if so where I can buy some?

Go to any fireworks shop and try a few. But generally smoke grenades aren't a good idea on the paintball field.

^^  Good distinction.  Given the number of idiots that play, hot grenades is probably a bad idea.

I know they sell those little dinky ball ones with firework packs, but I'm looking for something a little bit better.  Doesn't have to be any crazy industrial 500 acre smoke grenade, just something to add some kick to the game.  How much are the ones you guys have bought anyway?

I think I paid $7.  The have a pull ring, pull ring and throw. gives off about 20-30 seconds of smoke

Alright thanks, they've got some sweet smoke grenades, Phanton fireworks got more than I thought too other than those little dinky ones.

Now howa bout paint grenades.  You guys don't know of any explosive paintball grenades do you?

They burst on impact no explosion.  You can make your own.  The Tippmann's squadbuster paintball grenades are decent.

Yea I've used a Tippmann squadbuster grenade, wasn't too fond of it, or at least not too fond of paying 4 -5 bucks for it and all.  I'm probably going to go with the make your own method, but I still think exlosive ones would be awesome.  They gotta exist somewhere, or there's gotta be a way to make an explosive one.  In a way that wouln't jack people up.

Oh yea that's not a problem, I got the non-explosive ones covered, or Youtube does for me anyway.  I was just wondering about the explosive ones, something to give out a bang.

the Bang would require some sort of explosion and posting explosive recipes can be "hazardous" on the 'net.

They used to make explosive paint grenades.

Local shop owner still has one, and explained that its an M80 with paint, gunpowder, and a pullfuse.

Needless to say, the project died after a while.

I think the website actionvillage.com has some, thats where I go to purchase a lot of things like paint balls, and other things like grenades.

even the pull pin types get hot, the distinction between the 2, is that the flame isn't exposed.

I bought a whole bunch of the top ones, and was in the process of modifying them, when my local field outlawed smokes altogether. Now I have about 25 sitting in an ammo can.

Did you buy from the www.smokegrenade.net site?  I want to buy from them, but I want to be sure there ligit first.  I got scammed about 120 or so bucks frmo a paintball site a few years ago, so I don't want sumthin like that to happen again.  Weary on anything that's not eBay.

I was looking into some fireworks one some more, but it looks like they put out some heavy smoke that turns crap a fair shade of gray.  Now wouldn't that be pretty dangerous to be in that stuff breathing it in?

honestly i think the first instinct of being smoked would be either to run away so u can see

or get low
cause u cant breath
both r the purposes of smoke :)

My team trains CQB and Woods games,    smoke grenades are cool,     orange smoke is awesome for cover in the woods    works even better than green or regular smoke.
But my personal favorite for CQB is      FLASH-BANGs!!!!!
They are absolutely     OFF THE CHARTS!!!!!

HERE IS JUST ONE OF THE SEVERAL WAYS U CAN MAKE YOUR OWN SMOKE GRANADE YES ITS A HOT BURNING ONE BUT HE INSOLATED IT ENOUGH TO HOLD IT AND NO IT WOULDENT BE ALLOWED ON A FEILD (SCENARIO) OR ANYTHING BUT FOR WOODSBALL AS LONG AS YOU ARN PLAYING WITH DUM ASSES THEN IT WOULD BE FINE AND SEEMS CHEAP.

Back in the mid-80's the military used to use these white smoke canisters to provide concealment when moving across open terrain.  Basically, you would pop the smoke and toss it where the wind (if there was any) would blow it across the area you wished to cross.  I always figured the enemy solution if we ever did it in an actual combat situation would just be to rake the smokey area with machine gun fire (it's my first gut response) and we'd all be pretty much hosed.  Anyway, a few years later they found out the white smoke contained quite a few carcinogens and other toxic substances and was generally bad to breathe in.\

Edited Addition: The AF solution was to keep the white smoke on hand but no use it in exercises anymore on the theory that anyone under fire would choose exposure to stuff that would kill them slowly in order to avoid stuff (like bullets) that would probably kill them quickly.

Well, call us stupid, but when we played our little outside games (back in airsoft), we didnt have the benefit of having grenades (I mean, you can fill a water balloon with paint and theres a grenade. Or buy some nice Tippmann ones...)

So we bought one time use low grade (and I mean low grade) flashbangs XD They didnt hurt much, just very loud and bright. You get caught within 10 ft I think it was of the nade going off, you were out.

Course, like I said, You got paint nades here thus no need for flash bangs, but still was fun =P

But to be on topic, its understandable why Smoke Grenades wouldnt be allowed, or difficult to come by, since many things could go bad, or misinterpetations, or just the simple reasons of low visibility.

personally, I'd just use a flash bang and rush em while they're reeling over from the blinding flash and the deafening blast. If people whine about a 5 lb marker being too heavy, I imagine they'd whine about a low grade flashbang =P

EDIT: btw, yes, I've been flashbanged. Liek I said, I used em and was hit by one within 3 feet. even at its lowest, they are loud and blinding. No permenent damage but sure as hell puts em in a bad mood XD

smoke granades are able to go onto the feild i didnt mean that they were band i have seen plenty of videos of them using smoke in big battles. i meant that home made hot smoke wernt aloud. i dont realy know if that is true you would have to check before you go as always when something is questionable.

like flash bangs? XD

Flashbangs (within reasonable levels) are completely harmless and when used properly only take someone out for at most 5 minutes. They are designed to disorient people for officer's/soldiers to move in and detain the suspect.

When used in Paintball/Airsoft, those 5 minutes could mean victory or defeat =P

but of course, liek I said, in paintball, you have nice little Paint grenades, where in Airsoft we didnt have anything like that.

trust me if i was able to use them i would idk if they able to be used on a feild tho something i may just need to look into and look into the law inforcment ones and see how long there supposed to last and military grade smoke may not be a bad idea to look into altho it may be expenceive. (yes u can get law enforcment or military grade smoke legaly if i am not mistaken.) just like i could go and buy those police pepper sprey paintballs. (fun as **edited** to use dont work in normal size paintball guns tho for a reason.) sorry for spelling and being off topic at the end.
