go with option 2...if i was going to get any form of AK varient, i would get a straight up AK-47. and even for the TT-33, i would probably go for a Luger or P-38 or even an American colt .45 or maybe a PP7

Beh! I still don't understand the appeal towards the Tok.

PSL is the no-brainer. Of course, it's also 10x the expense.

And if you happen across even more money and want to stay in the ComBloc realm...just got the latest CAI catalog today. Semi-auto SG43 Goryunovs for sale! Complete with folding carriage and three 250rd reusable belts and cans.

Yeah, 'cause I need a towed machine gun that isn't fully auto shorty.... I'd rather have a DP if that were the case.

The Tokarev is just a desire to complete my WWII action play set! It's less expensive than buying a PPSh or PPS-43 right now, and they just look "durty" as one of my friends would say.

GI, I've already got most of the ones you suggested in the pistol end of things. Have my Luftwaffe P-08, my Springfield made 1911-A1 and I can pick up a Walther for cheap. As for a PP7, I'd rather have a Makarov.

For those interested in prices. Last gun show the PSL-54C ran around $775. The TT-33 was running $225

E.E. The PSL is now NATO crap thankyouverymuch! Besides, this is a Zombie rifle. Shorty's got the Mossberger and hand-cannon already and I've got a rain barrel for the zack-shelter so I'm in like Flynn. I've got to look at the bigger picture here bub! Those of us in VA aren't being disarmed in preparation for the zombies like you Massholes are!

Shotguns and large Caliber revolvers are as Zombie busting as you can get.

I've fired the #2 and I have to say, it's a spiffy shooter. But there's no question about it, the Draganov clone is the way to go.

I'd reply with 'get Shorty', but he's already in the thread.

Depends on why you want them. The PSL is a nice rifle and it'll have many more uses.

The TT33 is a nice pistol as well, but really there isn't anything going for it besides I WANT.

I mean I shoot with a guy who uses one for IDPA

And they are fine handling weapons and their ability to punch light armour, even when fired from pistols is a positive thing.

But I'd go with the rifle. It can be used for popping zombies, it can be used for hunting, it is more than accurate enough to be used for general target shooting and it will also pierce armour at the same ranges the TT-33 will :)

Triple the price, but also triple the use. If there is another AWB, it'll also have a bigger return on investment.

Technically the PSL is an AK, not a Dragunov. Whatdver.

Why didn't you like it Ceesman? I wasn't too fond of the scopes on the one's I shot, but it shot well enough for me to be comfortable hitting anything inside 400m when I wanted. It also made engaging targets inside 200m a breeze.

Look even harder and you'll realize it isn't a real sniper variant.

They show the stampings on the receiver. It's a sniper stock, PU scope, and bent-bolt from another rifle slapped into a standard Mosin Nagant receiver. The guys at the arsenal during the refurb thought it was good enough to be a sniper, but the guys at the original armory didn't. Hence the scope's serial isn't engraved into the side of the receiver. Instead it is electro-penciled into the top. Not worth the $600 or so they're asking, even WITH the ammo.

Did you shoot an actual SVD, a Chinese version, or the PSL-54C because the scopes are different depending on which model you got your hands on.

I'd have replaced the scope with something bigger than a 4x, but I didn't mind them. I shot both the wooden and the new plastic ones. My favourite is the folding stock one. It knocks about 10cm off the OAL :)

I need to get my hands in a PSL to try one out.

The PSL is based on the RPK/ROMAK-3 platform. Essentially it's a long-range AK and the scope on it is better performing than the original PSO-1s that the SVD had. For one thing they're lighter due to the tritium lit reticle.

Idk what that guy linked

But it is crazy how expensive those Dragunov platforms are now, or SKS's, or Mosin's, or that cheap Russian surplus ammo. *cries*

But at least AR's are stupid cheap now.

And I though that I made out well when my $450 PSL-54C turned around and sold for $750 after less than a year of ownership (I had nothing but problems as it was an early Century import that had a bad mag latch that caused tons of bolt-over-base issues). Now they're at $1500 and rising. Stupid, stupid money for a rifle that's not particularly accurate.

SKS's can still be had for sub $300 from time to time on Classic's website. I picked up a nice all-matching mid-60's chi-com military aid one from Enver Hoxha's stash not long ago for $250. Nice patina, no rust, completely matching, excellent wood. My guess from the wear pattern on the bluing is that it was a rifle handled for guard duty over the in Albania. the Wear is greater on the top and upper sides than down by the wood and is consistent over the whole of the dust cover leading me to believe the wear is from rubbing against a coat while slung over the shoulder.

Mosins have crept into the $200 range now even for round-receiver wartime production rifles.

I got rid of mine. Paid $75/ea for the pair and sold them for $300ea. Miserable little pistols with godawful trigger pull and crap-tastic accuracy. I do not miss them one bit.
