So benji and I were discussing how many people on the chat/ forum have been arrested?
Personally I haven't, my only police run ins have been speeding, a breathalyzer (0.0) and talking to them when I was underage/ at parties, and they didn't care.
Anyways, I know several of you have been arrested and probably have a decent story, so fill us in.

My only run in was my a-hole roommate calling the cops because I smoked a cigarette in the living room, of the apartment paid for. It didn't help that there was a bong, two scales, a blunt and 4 ounces out in the room. The cops simply took the bud and made everybody leave.
I count myself lucky there.

DUI back in 91'. 400 hours of community service, $1000 fine, 1 year revocation of my license, and 1 year probation. Got a "hangin judge" that got voted into office on his hard nose DUI stance with mandatory jail time. Only reason I was shown any mercy was because my dad was a cop and the prosecuting attorney said I would be at risk if put into general population. Pretty much put my plans on entering the criminal justice system on the right side to a screeching halt.

I was detained and released to my parents when I was 14 for the crime of playing paintball with the car behind us on a busy 4 lane street during rush hour. In my defense, i was just throwing paintballs out of the sunroof to hit the car behind us, which was filled with friends following us to the field. they are the morons who actually got out markers and started returning fire, as 2 cops were driving past us going the other way.
I also had a small bottle of absinthe seized in at Miami International. Apparently, according to the customs agents, "This is that new date rape drug they are talking about." luckily, they just confiscated it from me as a minor possession and there were no charges filed, also luckily they didnt find the cigars.
Being respectful to law enforcement officers can get you a long way.
However, it didnt get me out of a 67 in a 45 speeding violation, but it did get knocked down to 55

Worst that ever happened to me was being pulled over twice.
First time: A warning for loud music + one of two license plate lights broken.
Second time: Nothing at all for test driving a car with no license plate on it (salesman forgot to put it on).

Also never arrested, though very, very nearly for DUI. I may have told the story before, but I'll tell it again in case I didn't.
I was right out of college, and I started off the evening driving my girlfriend (now wife) brother, and best friend around to a few local bars for a couple of drinks. I was taking it pretty easy, we stayed at the first place for a few hours, I had one drink at the beginning, was good to go by the time we left there and headed to the second place. At bar #2, the bartender was a high school friend of mine and he started passing me free drinks. You know: "Come on man, have one for the old days" sort of thing. I wasn't smashed, but I was on my way to feeling pretty good.
Anyway, we left the place and right in front of my car was some poor girl throwing up everything she'd eaten for the last week or so. Having been in that condition before, I knew full well that turning my headlights on would probably kill her, so I decided to wait until I got out of the parking lot before I clicked the lights on. I pulled out of the lot, made the left onto the road, and forgot about the lights for a second. 100 feet down the road, I pass a state trooper, and out of instinct I looked at my speedometer and my butt hole slammed shut when I realized I couldn't see the dash display. I was pulled over to the side of the road by the time he had even got turned around, there was no way in hell he wasn't going to come after me.
I was sober enough to know exactly what I'd done wrong and that I was screwed, I was also past the legal driving limit, no question about it.
We went through the usual process, then he asked me to get out of the car- I figured this was where the it all ended for me. He administered a field sobriety test which included following a pen with my eyes ( I almost immediately failed when the first movement of the pen saw me turning my entire head) He asks about the headlights and I told him about the girl in the parking lot, adding that she was probably still there if he wanted to go check. After the grilling and the test he tells me to wait in the car. He then puts my license in his pocket. I get back to the car to find the trooper's partner grilling the drunkest of the 4 of us, my friend Greg who was riding shotgun, asking him if I was drinking that night, if there was anything in the car that shouldn't be, etc. The idiot, is telling him that I drank "A while ago" which every cop in the world has heard, and that there were GUNS in the car! (They were paintball guns from a game that weekend) Now the guy is on high alert, and I figure I'll probably be pistol whipped, hauled to jail and never seen again.
So I sit in the car, sweating buckets, and the guy who grilled me comes back to the car, asks about the paintball guns, hands me my license and tells me to get where I'm going safely.
You could have knocked me over with a slight breeze.
Ever since then, I don't even think about screwing around with drinking and driving. It put the fear of God in me, and the more I realize just how lucky I was, in more ways than one, the more I realize I was actually pretty friggin stupid that night. My overall alcohol consumption dropped drastically after that night, and I don't dare drive anymore after having anything to drink.
I learned a lesson that I won't forget.

They didn't actually haul me to jail, but I've been cuffed in the back of a police car before.
It was the day before my senior year (August of '05) and me and some of my friends were about to go out on a friend's boat and smoke out of my bong.
We couldn't go because his brother was already on the boat, so we decided (quite stupidly I might add) to smoke bongloads in my car while driving around.
Then we got bored and started hitting mailboxes, easily taking out 50+; The main guy swining hit 17 in a row at one point.
Then some guy that saw us smash his mailbox got in his truck, a Chevy 2500, and chased us down a winding path down some backroads until we lost him 15 minutes or so later.
Thinking we were safe, and feeling pretty satisfied with ourselves (me especially since I was driving) we headed back to get rid of our paraphenalia. Got to within .9 miles of my friend's house when we got popped.
We were searched and the police found about a dime of weed, the bong, and 2 baseball bats.
I was charged with malicious destruction of property, possession of marijuana, use of marijuana, and reckless driving, and released to my parents without going to jail.
At my pre-trial the prosecutor told us he used to do the same thing we did, but with Mexicans on their bikes instead of mailboxes... I thought that was funny.
Plea bargain:I got the Reckless driving reduced to careless driving, and got the three others rolled into one "disorderly person" charge.
1 year probation, $1500 in fines, 40 hours of community service, replaced the mailboxes, and my record is now expunged & clean.
Sorry if that rambled, it's late and I'm drunk.

DUI, luckily not convicted but it was an embarrassing and expensive mistake. Not only that, my mom got arrested for DUI when she came to pick me up (I didn't call her for a ride home or to be bailed out for this reason, she just showed up) so I ended up having to give her my blanket and freeze my ass off until 4am. I take it pretty easy these days unless i'm in the middle of the woods nowhere near a car.

Never arrested, but got busted doing lots of stupid stuff.
Riding my bike off the roof of a fast food joint for a bmx zine.
Riding my bike over the top of a cab. (hey, he tried to hit me, so I went over him...)
Kicked out of three malls for riding through them, and finally getting caught. Nothing like doing huge power slides on marble floors and bunnyhoppping up and down flights of stairs. It leaves great black marks that last for years.
We used to go to downtown Raleigh every Sunday and ride our bikes in the outdoor mall, until the cops would chase us. Pretty soon they ditched the horses and got mountain bikes... Man, that was a bad idea.
Once one tried to follow me as I bunnyhopped off of a loading dock, 5 feed down to flat ground, I did it at top speed, and he "tried" to follow...
I heard him go "otb" as I turned the corner. That had to hurt...
I had over 17 warning tickets when I was 18. Yes, I was a dumb kid. They never ticketed me because I did bike safety shows at the local schools with the local pd and I knew all the upper officers.
Racing cars, jumping cars, racing motorcycles, bmx...
After every contest we would go downtown to whatever town we were in and ride everything, which was really fun with about 50-100 guys from all over, riding trees, benches, walls, cars, whatever we could find. They always ended when the police showed up and we all took off.
Squirt guns... I had a convertible lowrider truck, and we would put our automatic super soaker squirt guns in the truck and ride up to the entrance to the mall, and unload on the people going inside... Every so often one of them would run back to their car and give chase...
The late 80's were a different time... You could never do that stuff today...

I never understood how street racers could last long. Sure the fines aren't bad, but at some point, doesn't your insurance company give you the boot? And if you do find someone else to cover you, aren't your rates nearly unaffordable?

Also, I was only detained for 2 hours for questioning. As it was Baltimore and I was white and not a crack head, they didn't even put me in a holding room for questioning. So, that probably doesn't even count either.

I have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, 3 times. Had a gun drawn on the vehicle I was in aswell. Nothing quite like being told if you move your going to the hospital while a p.o'd pig is standing there with a gun drawn.
The other time I just finnished smoking one in my garage, a cop comes pulling up. In my head im thinking "holy *filltered* my neighbour just phoned the cops on me for burning in my garage, thats not cool". The cop gets out and starts asking me and my cousin where are friend went. We were the only ones in the house and looked at each other puzzled. We said it;s only us. He laugh's and asks us why we were in the shed? Now really confused I asked him what the heck he's talking about. He tells us that 3 kids just took off in the direction of my house after getting caught breaking into and smoking up in someones shed. Of course in my mind I have a little break down like damn, this looks freaking BAD! We tell him what we were doing and to go check for foot prints leading to my house(winter still). He comes back congratulating us on the job we did covering them up. He goes to the house that the shed got broken into. Comes back checks are shoes and says, "yeah, its you guys. Same foot print over there, go check it out yourselves" We tell him we arent going to put our prints in the same place your telling us we came from. He laughs, we both get a little pissed and tell him to get off my property and filed a complaint with the chief. Never heard anything again.
Now I should be arrested with some of the bar brawls me and my buddies get into, but thanks god that hasent happened yet.

Only ticket I have ever gotten is a cellphone ticket that got thrown out in court, but I have to say I have lucked out a few times...
Cops busted a party with like 50 under age kids drinking, they sent everyone home after surrounding the house and coming in.
Pulled over with my friend doing 130 on the high way, cop tagged us at 99 and let the kid off with a ticket for 75 so it wasn't wreckless. That was awesome, considering he came up to the car basically saying he has the authority to yank his license, tow the car, and bring both of us to jail.
And most recently I was on a ride with 3 other kids, we just finished it but the kid had an [pain killer] and a sifter on him. Cop pulled us over because he saw the kid flash his head lights at another car (obstruction of justice for letting people know there's a cop). He was the biggest asshole cop I have ever met.... The kid chewed up the [pain killer] as the cop came to his window and he bent the sifter to throw it under the seat. Then the cop made him get out (he was pretty hurt....snidd one before, blazed, and chewed one), asked everyone what we were doing, checked everyone's eyes, searched the driver, did a sobriety test, tore apart the car and wound up writing him a ticket for "dazzling headlights" after not finding anything else to book him for. That was probably the worst experience I have had, knock on wood.

Rolling a stop
Not wearing a SeatBelt
"Because he thought I may have been drinking" - I veered over the white line when pulling out of a driveway
Speeding (10 over)
--- The only case I've gotten ticketed for ---
Speeding - 85 in a 25 - School zone - Cracked Windshield - No belt - No license. He gave me a ticket for 5 over and let me go on my way.

I've also had cops pull up behind me twice while fishing with no license - never got nailed for that either.

Been pulled over twice. Once for driving with a busted headlight, I told the cop I was too poor to get it fixed, he told me to take care of it as soon as I can and let me go.
The other was more serious. Driving around a nearby small town with a friend, this small town is well known for the cops pulling people over under stupidly tiny pretenses to search for drugs. I didnt have anything on me but I DID have a used uhhh peace pipe in my inside jacket pocket underneath a pack of cigarettes.
Cop asks us if we minded if he searched the car, I said sure, figured I was screwed either way. He pats us down, find the pack of cigarettes and checks inside for joints I guess, then sticks it back in my pocket without patting me down again to see if he missed anything. So I got off very lucky due to a sloppy search.
The funny thing was, my car was a trash heap. I mean the back seat area literally had trash and crap piled up level with the rear seat. So cop calls in backup, had about 3 cops digging through this MASSIVE pile of trash while acting like it was the most serious thing in the world, I was trying my best not to laugh. The trunk was full of more stuff and some power tools. Cop asks "Why are you carrying a circular saw around?" I answered "Why not?"
They got all excited at one point, I wasnt sure why until afterwards when I realized I had an unused pipe I had made for a friend in the center console. They found that and thought they hit the jackpot before they realized it had never ever been used.
They even brought out the drug-sniffing dog, shoved the dog into the car, it just kinda goes "Meh" and hops back out. They shoved that dog in there about 5 more times, they REALLY wanted to find something, probably after they found the unused pipe and got all excited over it.
I really hate small towns...

Man I have been pulled over so many times. Only a couple were useless.
In one day on 3 separate occasions, 3 cops, 2 towns:
- Driving like a retard on purpose. No ticket but a nice long lecture about him having his wife and kids on the road and not to drive like an idiot. First got my license acting like a retard with friends in the car.
- Exhaust had a hole so super loud.
- Inspection Sticker was expired.
Separate Incidents
- Cape Cod rotary. Looked at 2 cops sitting in their cars. I then pulled off the rotary into my destination(convenience store) Both cops came one in front of me and one behind. Kind of annoying story. They said they thought I was "ducking away from them" because I glanced at them before getting to where I wanted.
- Doing 100 on the Masspike with an undercover behind me for 3 miles. Ticketed
- Doing 95 on a 65 highway. Cop didn't even bother pulling me over. Just walked into the left lane and pointed at me. Ticketed
- Doing 50 in a 30 MPH sidestreet. Ticketed
- Doing about 85. Pulled over and ticketed. Car towed because my license expired about 3 days before. All that I had to do was pay the renewal fee, I just hadn't gone yet.
- Pulled over on the way home from work. They got calls from people thinking I was a drunk driver because I was so tired I was swerving.
- Pulled over outside my house. I gave him a reason by not using a blinker, but he pulled me over to be a douche.
- Pulled over doing 45 in a 35 way home one night. Warned.
- I rear ended a cop car in traffic. Not bad. Kind of just tapped him. Didn't care, let me go.
I think that about sums up being pulled over.
Bothered by cops in my car:
- Sleeping in a rest area at 3 PM. Cop woke me up and wanted to search my car. His reason was because someone had ODed there a few months before.
- Also sleeping in my car. Not a rest area though. Cop just told me to go find somewhere else.
Annoyed by cops:
- Riding an office chair down a hill at night. We got yelled at and they took the chair away from us.
- My car ran out of gas. We had baseball bats. Decided to have a "sword fight" at 11 PM. Cops started questioning us and whatnot.
- Hitting my old car with said baseball bats. Someone called the cops on us. Made us wait while he called my uncle because it was in his name.
- Spray painting said car. That was a more "What are you doing?" "Oh ok have fun" type of deal.
Cops called on me:
- Flipping out in my house. Nothing.
- Flipping out in my house again. Broke a lot of stuff. Took me outside. Questioned my family. According to them the only reason I didn't get arrested was because I didn't throw anything at anyone.
Oh and I was in a police car when I was like 5 because of my mother.
That about sums up my experiences with the police, and I think I missed a few...Pretty much only typed this because the question got asked and had me thinking for myself.

Yes and no.
Lucky because it could have been much worse.
Un-lucky because my HS had a deal with the OCPD that anyone from BHS was supposed to be turned over to the school's liason officer and not the courts for punishment/treatment.
Another group of kids got caught doing EXACTLY what we were two days earlier, and got off with no charges.
Still thankful I didn't get all of that on my record though.
As far as the government's concerned now, I'm a great citizen. Not even any traffic tickets.

The first time was when I was a waen I got caught playing on the railway tracks. Since then it's been a checkered history of drunken tomfoolery and causing the odd riot. Just the other week I was drunk to the point that i could hardly see. The fuzz saw me staggering along the road and decided to have a chat. Apparently I gave them a torrent of abuse and may have brought his mothers honour/ gender into question. I thought I was fine but he gave me a kicking then threw me in the back of the meat wagon. After apologising they figured I was just a harmless drunk and uncuffed me. The bad cop started giving me a lecture and informed me his mother was in fact a saint. And that she doesn't "go at it like a dog eating hot chips" I couldn't help but laugh. So they cuffed me and threw me in the cage again and started driving to where i figured was Govan (cop shop) After only about 10 minutes they open the door and chuck me out the van and tell me to stop being such a twat and get up the road. To my surprise and amusement I was two doors down from my house. Free lift home! was trying to get a taxi at the time aswell but they wouldn't take me in my state.
Got billy batted in the head in Manchester for the Rangers vs Zenit st petersburg game where Glasgow pretty much invaded and took over Manchester with riots and looting breaking out everywhere.
Woke up with 2 CID leaning over me in my room. I was then promptly escorted to the station in my dressing gown for questioning about a rather large fraud operation and connections to a murder suspect (later convicted). They were going to make me find my own way home afterwards but decided to give me a lift home.
countless random encounters and chases as a lad.

Thats what I figured but I didn't expect it at the time. So it was a pleasant surprise. As they explicitly told me I was getting the jail.

Got into a fight on the beach on the north shore. Me and the guy got put in cuffs, but because the surf contest was so crowded and traffic was terrible (two lane road for like 7 miles), the agreed to let both of us go if we went straight to our cars and left. We both agreed.
Ran from the police multiple times to avoid minor in possession or disorderly conduct tickets for fighting. Never been caught.
Couple traffic stops. Closet was last December I was on leave and following my friend back to her house at like 1am, and I saw this car tailgating the hell out of me, but figured it wasn't a cop because it's dangerous to follow someone so close. This is north carolina backroads too, and you can see headlights coming from miles away so I'm hanging every turn in the other lane. Eventually I got bluelighted. The cop was chill though, and once I explained I hadn't been drinking and that I was just following my friend he was understanding. Turned out decent, because It wouldn't have been hard at all to give me reckless driving ticket.

Epic fail. It could be a culture thing but the police here would tell you to go grow a pair.

2 speeding tickets (one was thrown out), but several run-ins with the po.
Pulled over 4 times in one week during spring of my senior year:
3 car searches
0 tickets/warnings - one time the cop was so embarassed he handed me my id and walked away
One of my favorite stories was when me and a few friends went on a munchies run...munchies for obvious reasons. We took 2 cars to DD and sat down with 2 dozen donuts. Two cops came in and asked how the food was before getting coffee and leaving. On the way out, my friend who I was following took a wrong turn and pulled into a drive-way to turn around. Cops pulled in behind us and started questioning. After about 5 minutes they said, 'Haha, we're just f-ing with you. Get home safe.'
Over winter break I was driving a full car of drunk/messed up kids following my friend home from the club late one night. As we were stopped at a light on the edge of the city, my friend decided to get out and walk to his friends house. I should not have been driving so didn't really care what he was doing. As soon as he got out, a cop pulls up. I pulled away and got pulled over a mile down the road, but instead the cop pulled up next to me and rolled down his window. He asked me the usual, what was i doing, if i was drunk, before the back window rolled down and i saw my friend's smiling face. The cop ended up driving him home (he's 22) and we went on his way.

A few run ins, mainly from being under age at a party. At one point I was in the back of the cop car, but ended up getting left off since one of the officers didn't smell anything on my breath (chose not to drink that day) and I was let go along with a friend who had been drinking. Most cops in my town are chill with kids and parties. They usually just bust it up and tell the kid who's house it is to clean it up.
As for traffic violations, I was given a 4pt ticket my first time getting pulled over on Valentines Day on my way to work for going 56 in a 40. If he had wrote 54 I would've only gotten 2pts. I hate jerk cops.

Arrested twice.
Once in Ocean City Maryland in 1983.
I had just gotten off work at Miele's pizza shack on 5th street and saw a fight happening between a friend of mine and a bunch of idiots.
I stepped in to either break it up or try and keep him from getting killed till the cops got there....and BAM!!!! Lights out...someone hit me in the right ear with what I think was a signpost.
This is all hear say because, being unconscious, I really don't remember any of it.
I woke up in a hospital 30 miles away, handcuffed to the bed.
Went to jail after my xrays and tylenol.
I had a concussion, a busted eardrum and a serious black eye.
My dad came and got me the next day, when I could remember my phone number. The idiots got away with my wallet...and my "friend" was nowhere to be seen.
I wasn't drunk, and don't remember much of any of it.
There were no formal charges filed, but apparently getting your ass kicked in public in OC is illegal.
The second arrest was at Eglin Air Force Base Florida. When I was a SP/4 in the 82nd ABN.
We were walking back to our tent city from the base exchange on the opposite side of the flight line.
Someone thought it would be a good idea to run across the flight line to save about half the distance.
We crossed some imaginary line in the tarmac about halfway across and 2 Airforce SPs showed up in a blue bread truck.
They pointed M16s at us and yelled some crap about "lethal force"...yadda yadda...and we laid on the ground smartly.
They cuffed us and stuffed us in their little blue bread truck, took our IDs and took us to the drunk tank.
Yes we were hammered.
We really didn't get in any trouble but my first sargeant was pissed.
We didn't know it at the time but back in those days...they parked SR71s at Eglin, and we got too close.
I really think those SPs would have shot us.
Kind of glad they didn't.
Those are my 2 best arrest stories.
There is a couple of other "near" arrest stories.
One involving a bunch of MPs on Fort Bragg, a 1982 TR7 Triumph, concertina wire, a hooker, and some seriously bad judgement.
We got away, the MPs got seriously cut up, the car was totaled but made it home, and the hooker never got paid.

I was actually wondering if we should start a topic on that. Always more fun that way :)
One thing I've noticed from this thread and actually doing it, a lot of people expect cops to give them breaks for whatever reason they think is justified, but they are suprised when a cop DOES give them a break on something pretty major.

For his old vest (only 2 years old and worn sparingly). Belt, fresh can of OC,surefire light, 2 pairs of cuffs, and a few other tidbits. It saved me a good chunk of change.
