You know, rhymes with "does not suck!" GO Canucks! Beat those chi-town losers in their own town!

Yeah, its nice to see them not do a terrible job this year. I wish I could afford a jersey
I was supposed to see game 5 vs St. Louis here in Vancouver but the game didn't happen, so I still haven't seen an NHL game live.
Hear about pheonix tallen?

Yeah! Just heard about it. Amazing too considering Gretzky has a stake in it.
Apparently Jerry Bruckheimer might buy the controlling share. Jim Balsillie is also reportedly making a bid for the team, but would want them to move to Southern Ontario (Hamilton) which is unlikely since the lease for the stadium is $700 million and he's only ponying up $212.5 million.

Like seriously, its a game. No need t get all hyped up and excited about it waving around canucks flags on your cars and painting GO CANUCKS on your trucks. Or decorating your yard with canuck flags

I'd love to someday see an east-coast canada team, but I don't see that being possible for quite some time.
Also, theres a Mike Farrell that used to play for the Capitals, then the Predators. Getting a jersey with my own name on it would be pretty fantastic.
*edit*
Whoo, we didn't Canuck it up. Another W for V

Careful! The Mounties are gonna come and take away your citizenship if you keep that kind of talk going.

Jim Basille is apparently out of his mind. He tried to buy the Penguins before they managed to secure their new stadium, he tried to buy Nashville's NHL franchise when there was trouble there...he won't stop until he manages to drag some NHL team, kicking and screaming, into Hamilton, Ontario...

Interesting thing though, Shub, is that he had more than enough deposits for season tickets and box sales to prove to the NHL that Hamilton is a viable market. Probably more so than Nashville or Phoenix at the very least.
Now, did anyone else see that God-Awful officiating in the Ducks-Wings game? Puck was clearly loose and Detroit got robbed! That was just the worst of it. All kinds of blatant penalties that weren't called on both sides.

Can't get near the rinks around here without having to dodge ankle-biters all day long. No room during the adults-only skating sessions to work on hockey skills either.

Yeah, I was pleased to see a place you could work on stick handling. Theres a place sort of near me called Planet Ice. They have 4 rinks, and nearly every day they have "stick and puck" for 2 hours. Must have your own stick, hockey gloves, helmet and puck. CAN rent skates, but I just bought some super cheap. But yeah, much more enjoyable than just gliding around.

Yeah that was pretty bad. And going into this game his save percentage was .937 I believe. That's pretty ridiculous.

Was cheering for the Canucks in that series, Sundin twins are just too cool.
It will be cool to see Red Wings- Hawks though, that's old school hockey.
Went to the Canes' game again tonight, was ugly, mostly because Carolina had a lot of scoring opportunities they just let go by them.
Tallen, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE beat the Pens.

Not a canucks fan, far from it. Just was looking at their stats the other day in an article and thought it was really cool.

No problem. The Caps should put the Pens away if for no other reason then to force Crosby to shave that creepy chin-fuzz he is trying to call a playoff beard. I think the world is a better place without that scary looking thing gracing its television sets.

Yes. I agree whole heartedly. Sidney Crosby's lack of facial hair is much more disturbing than when the Geico caveman wearing number 8 for the Caps leaves his feet to crush Pens defensemen without even a penalty...

Yeah, the Sedin twins with Burrows is a pretty fantastic line. Henrik is more of the play setup man with ridiculous assists, Daniel Sedin is faster/ has a harder shot, and is a higher scorer.
Amazing to watch them work together sometimes.

Is this not cheap? I've noticed that Crosby sometimes gets a little stupid when hes mad and or upset, which usually hurt his team.
|

I'm not saying that Crosby is the perfect sportsman, or that he never took liberties on the ice, or whatever. I'm also not going to degrade into some Crosby vs Ovechkin pissing match.
But, that was a fight. Fights happen all the time in hockey, and no one gets hurt. There was also some debate at the time whether McLean was aware of the fight or not...I don't remember all the details.
The two hits I was talking about with Ovechkin was completely different. In game 4, he charged and made intentional knee on knee contact with Sergei Gonchar, eliminating him for at least the rest of this series. The second hit wasn't as dangerous, it involved him leaving his feet to hit Hal Gill to the right of Fleury in game five.

Wow, what a fall. Crosby drove him into the ice forehead first, that could do some serious damage. I saw a fight the other day where someones head was flat against the ice, and he got punched twice. That's just...brutal

I can't believe all the crying about that hit. Ovi is FLYING down the ice going into a turn so his stance is set wide to give him stability. It would have been a good clean hit with the shoulder if Gonchar hadn't had his head down until the last second and then tried to get out of the way. Ovi doesn't jump into the hit either, he pops out of it. Just watch it and you'll see, his feet don't leave the ice until after the hit occurs and even then he's not "jumping" to any great extent.
Sure, I understand the Pens fans being upset that Gonchar is out, I'd be upset if someone took out Mike green

I really can't decide if it was an intentional knee hit or not.
